Might be good to post the weight of our guitars in a single thread. Obviously there can be large variations between specimens of the same model but it can useful for folks who are sensitive to guitar weights to see some actual data. Here's mine (weighed using a luggage scales). All of these are lefties. Guitar Model | Weight (Kg) | ST20 | 3.79 | TE20 | 3.24 | L-400 | 3.60 | S-580wr | 3.40 | HB35 | 3.78 | PB20 | 3.82 | JB75 | 5.06 |
Surprisingly the ST20 is heavier than the L400. It's a very solid feeling guitar. Any heavier though and I think I'd subconsciously start to avoid it - not as handy to casually pick up with one outstretched hand (I do most of my playing while sitting on the couch ). I find that's the case with the JB75 although it's clearly a nicer bass than the PB20.

hey salteedog, Okay, you asked for it (using a kitchen scale): TE-30 4,3kg TE-30 with TE-20 neck 3,6kg TE-52 NA 3,6kg TE-80 3,8kg TE-90FLT WH 4,1kg SC-Custom Lemon Flame 4,1kg ResoKing 3,6kg Slider 1,9kg Our first Harley Benton was the heavy TE-30. She feels like she is made out of lead, the body is a 4 piece, there is a burn stain on the neck, but the moment I plugged in, she was mine! Terrific Chicago blues sound.

Wow - I didn't realise that the TE-30s were so heavy. Surprising how heavy the new TE-90FLT is also. Most people on hearing it is chambered would expect it to be about 3.0 to 3.50 Kg at most and certainly less than 4Kg.

This could be where the low low price might be showing. The TE30 that weighs 4,3kg has a slimmer body than the TE30 (with TE-20 neck). That last one has the same depth as the guitars by the big F company, but is half a kilo lighter. We were quite suprised as well, chambered, belly cut, but still very heavy. We double checked to be correct:

My HB SC-550 weighs in at 3,8kg - so I am suprised it is that low compared to the other models.

TE-30 4.125 kg (9.09 pounds for the "imperialists" ) Actually it is the weight of this guitar that has kept me from buying more HB's. I have about 15 other telecasters in my arsenal (all Squier and Fender), and this is the heaviest one.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

It's one reason that I like to play strats: the boat shaped jack socket is ideal 'cos the lead doesn't poke into the cushion like it does out of a tele, pacifica or Les Paul. I know I COULD get a right angle one for those guitars but then it would be useless for the strat! I reckon every guitar would be improved by the addition of a boat jack socket. Hate the way the lead comes straight out of the body of an SG or ES335. Nope, I am a boat man.

As such, that model is the heaviest guitar I have. It's heavier than my Squier Classic Vibe Tele 50's model and that model is made of pine. Reason why I don't play the SC a lot.

Lm2 The JA60 appears to be a very light guitar. My new one is due here tomorrow (long weekend in Ireland and it's been stuck at the national sorting depot since Friday night).

I must calibrate my scales in case I'm reading too high. No you don't, I will have to. Seems my electronic scale is not so good as expected. Went back checking the JA-60 = 3,35kg and also checked the ST-62 again = 3,67kg. Hope this time is it ok
