Careful now with the new strings Blablas! If I can't get these Thunder Reds on I can always give the Kala strings I've got left over from a previous project a second go.

Looks good! What is the black "thing" that lays across the neck in the second photo? (just curious )

A piece of ribbon to lift out the battery. I did get these pictures from the seller, he shipped it without a battery, I'll post a few more of my own when I have put on new strings.

Glamor-shot of my StingRay5. Made a new controls cavity cover instead of the stock white pickguard that was on there, it's a crime to hide this beautiful finish and woodgrain underneath a big piece of plastic! Also bought this one last week. Sire Marcus Miller V7 Vintage Ash-5.

The Stingrays a beauty blablas. Like what you've done with the cover.

Finally got me a Spector, has been on my 'if ever at the right conditions list' for a very long time. Spector Legend 5 Classic.

First impression: I like it - the shaped body feels very comfortable, same goes for the neck, fretwork is topnotch, the sound is something I did not yet have with the other 50+ basses I own (this sound thing was the main reason for wanting a Spector all this time).
More details later after I've finished setting it up and spent more hours playing it.

A short while ago I promised pictures of the backside, now, while uploading my pictures again I see I never made good on that promise . Herre they are only two years late:

You can't, I don't have the equipment to make a proper recording that's up to my standards. I've tried a few times but didn't like the result. The beast is tuned in: Ebe, Aea, Dad, Gdg.

With standard 12 string tuning the octave strings are both one octave up, one pitched a little bit higher, the other one in tune or a little bit lower, this gives a bit of a chorus like sound and a lot of power. If you tune them both in perfect pitch you might as well go for a 8 string bass. My tuning is a bit less common, one octave up and a fifth down on that octave string. This tuning gives a darker overall sound and has lots of balls.
Some nice examples:
If you want to know even more check out Tom Petersson and King's X.

And another one removed from the 'if ever at the right conditions' list. This Fortress 5 string came by at Thomann for a price I was willing to spend on it. It will probably be turned in another black beast in the future - same way I did my fretless Corvette. Replaced the chrome hardware with black and put on DR Black Beauties.
