The American Sound sounds crap on my Bugera Infinium V22 full tube amp BTW, the AC-Tone sounds very good on the same amp! Ok that interesting for me to hear. So I could maybe brighten my Bugera V5 tone by getting the AC-Tone pedal ... hm ...

Ammoon only has the American Sound and Joyo is more than HB AC-tone at Aliexpress, so Im better off buying at Thomann. Its in my wish list ...

My L-450Plus sounds very good in this amp. Seems this Peavey Bandit prefers Humbuckers to single coils. Well thats good news because I didnt play the LP for a long time because it didnt sound good into my Bugera V5 which is better suited for P90s and single coils.

The great thing about these type of pedals is their versatility. They can be used at gigs as a back up straight to a PA if your amp breaks down, also for direct recording into a DAW or just as a normal overdrive pedal. Some folks think they sound better direct to PA compared to through a guitar amp but different strokes for different folks I guess. Though I only have a humble but much loved wee Kustom amp at the moment (mainly play through BiasFX nowadays) it definitely gives some chimey Vox flavour to the Celestion super 8" speaker in the amp. If you like Beatles/Byrds/RoryGallagher/REM/Tom Petty/Brian May/Edge/ Hank Marvin etc you will no doubt like it. What I love about it most is you can get a really aggressive edge of break up clean sound that really cuts through especially on single coils, however I seem to remember a Henning video where he didn't think tele's are really suited to AC30s ........he talks some nonsense sometimes lol.

I would like a more Fuzz-like OD and if AC-Tone can deliver that Im going for it. Henning is gone nuts as of late! Too much fame for him to handle it clearly. I have unsubscribed long ago. Love his older vids though when he was still "just Henning".
As for Tele not suiting Vox ;

Never tried to get fuzz type tones from it before but I'll dust it down at the end of the week and let you know. I think Henning like a few others on YT are putting out too much content lately and it's getting a bit stale. It's probably the squeeze on income from YT that's making them churn out more content but less quality. The Nam Spam a few months back was a bit overkill but Henning was the guy who turned me on to HBs so I should go easy. That little Hotone with the tele sounds killer.

Yes. Henning was the reason I'm into HBs too. Loved those older vids.
But as you say. Too many pointless vids these days just for clicks.

Cheers for that saltee. I've never come across anyone mentioning doing this before but it seems to me, after reading that article, that if you have a nice scratch-free pot then it might be a good idea to seal it with something like silicon sealant straight away to keep the dusty buggers out. If it then goes scratchy then you'd know it wasn't external dust causing it and, if you really wanted to flush it out with anything, then the sealant would be easy to remove. @defjef Getting back to this old conversation about dusty pots. Just spotted something interesting on this video (which in itself is well worth watching all the way through - especially if you are a fan of volume swells.). But look at what Dan spots around the 5 minute mark after they open up the tele.

Lovely playing salteedog . I did that control plate switcheroo on a tele but found the pots too stiff to sweep open in the way Bill is doing. Tried it on a friend's '74 tele and, whilst they were looser they were too scratchy to be used as musically as Bill is doing. That 'dust cap' doesn't appear to cover any holes that could let dust in. Just sits on top of the solder points on the tone pot. I can't see any justification for it. Nice 'quack' to that guitar. I need to find some non-US sounds for my swells to emulate. Perhaps the sound of the car alarm that keeps going off up the road. Or that jock-pot up the street that has been playing Ibiza 'classics' since eight o'clock this morning. Or the sound of a vigilante getting his own back.

Managed to get some free time to try and get some fuzz on the AC tone and it was a bit meh!! The best I could muster was on a neck pup and setting the voice and drive controls way up but unfortunately my amp was playing up which didn't help matters. There was sporadic crackle and pop and occasional loss of sound coming from my amp which incidentally hasn't been used in a long time. The gain switch doesn't seem to work either so I'm guessing it may need the pre amp valve changed. If it does need changed is it possible to replace it with a valve that doesn't break up as fast.....anyone ? Cheers

Update...After getting some time noodling around I'm pretty happy with this amp. Like you've probably heard before this amp is a very straight forward plug in and play with a great clean channel and not too shabby overdrive channel. It has bags of low end thump and is extremely loud past 12 o clock on both channels. This would breeze jam/pub/club gigs with plenty headroom but for home use I set the volume somewhere between 8 and 9 o clock but really this amp wants to be pushed to appreciate it. I bought this to start jamming with an old drummer mate but work commitments have been pretty hectic blah blah ....but I do intend to get round to it at some point. On its own you can dial in some good Fenderish cleans or Plexi crunch on the lead channel and it does it very well. I've been using my AC tone pedal in front of it and it sounds friggin awesome as does my Behringer RV600 reverb machine. I think this amp can cover most genres and although it looks like a hard rock/metal amp it actually excels at clean and vintage overdrive more so than metal. The reverb on mine is OK but to my ears doesn't sound as wet as other reviews on YT have shown but this may be an issue with mine. I've been using a pedal to get the reverb I prefer anyway so not much of an issue. Also the volume knob on my clean channel is a bit funky when I turn it below 1 towards O there is like a sort of cocked wah volume spike ( kind of hard to explain ). It plays on 1 and there is no sound on zero but in between it does this volume spike. Apart from these little quirks it's a great amp I'm going to hold on to it for a while yet just in case I get round to jamming again.
