I'm kind of in both camps. I'm no great fan of having a million options because my ADD will kick in and I'll spend all my time flitting from one to another. Hence my inclination to avoid the Mustangs etc. of this world. I want to plug in and sound either like Hubert Sumlin on 'Smokestack Lightning', Neil Young on 'Cortez the Killer', Lou Reed on 'Sweet Jane' or whoever played guitar with The Cure on 'A Forest'. Oh and Peter Buck on 'The One I love' too. Ad while I'm at it I'd also like Jim Hall's tone on 'Concierto de Aranjuez'. Not too much to ask eh?

Ah yes - I did try the slicer last night - it's a fun effect alright - especially if the rate is set slow. Not sure how usable it is though.

Yeah, I haven't connected it up for a while to mess around with settings.
I think I'll take a leaf out of DefJef's book and actually read the manual for the amp. The parametric eq I tried to setup isn't working right but I just haven't got around to sorting it out.

Well the manual tells you practically nothing.
I seem to have broken my parametric eq function.
Was trying out the slicer patterns, some of them are pretty hypnotic.

How do you break the parametric eq? I guess you can always do a factory reset if things have gotten totally out of hand. Have you tried the 'sneaky amps' yet? Handy enough. I've changed one of my presets to use the 'Clean Twin' given I prefer the Fender type clean to the default Jazz Chorus clean. Other than that I'm not that bothered about the other amp models - most are a little bit of EQ-ing away from the stock models anyway. github.com/katana-dev/docs/blob/master/how-to/use-28-amp-types.mdRegarding the effects the other fun one is the slow gear.. good for ambient type noodles.

True. Slow gear plus harmoniser makes me sound a lot more talented than I am!
In other news - Shane from In The Blues tries out the Katana for clean tones (and as a boost pedal platform):-

The Katana reverb is actually pretty intense. I usually dial it in at about 9 to 10 o'clock. The spring reverb probably needs some adjustment to reduce the high-end trail so overall the plate reverb is best.
Also - those Mustang III v2s are popping up on the used market now at some attractive prices. €200 for an amp plus the big footswitch ain't bad at all for something that you can gig with.

Another solid review of the Katana (and slating of the new Mustang) here:-
Tones from both amps don't sound great in my headphones but clearly the guy is impressed.

I got an iRig and the Fender package for all my Fender needs.

Just noticed they've added a new load of Fender amps
