Oh..I see there's a €119 Bigtone Deko up there now. No thanks.. I can just imagine the problems that one could have.

The wiring and switches all check out ok. So the only conclusion I can come up with wrt my Roswell bridge pickup is that they have either put the wrong model in there (I didn't remove it to check markings) - perhaps an uncovered LPSA-CR-B4 or they used the wrong guage wire on the pickup spool - the funny thing is that even though it's much higher DCR it's showing pretty much the same output as the neck pup albeit with a much higher resonance frequency. A simple over-wound would reduce the resonant frequency and result in a darker pup.
I guess I'll have to remove the pickup to investigate more. It's behaving like there is a 4 KOhm resistance in series with both coils...quite strange.

It possibly matches the tone chart - a lot of 'high mids'.
Anyway the sticker on the back of the pup reads 'HAF-B4T-LF'....so it's labelled as a HAF-B anyway.
Bit of a mystery this.

By the way the pickup cavities are perfectly positioned - not misaligned at all. The misalignment is in the screwholes for the pickup rings. An easy fix if I was bothered to do it (I'm not).
Still curious about the bridge pickup DCR reading...I did a rough (as in using gauss-meter phone app) check on the magnet strength and it matches the neck pickup. So it really appears to be that they used a lighter gauge wire in the pickup. Smaller gauge is higher resistance so perhaps the pickup has the correct number of winds and the correct magnets. In theory that should make it warmer...but maybe it is warmer that the regular one. However, it would explain why the output is on a par with the neck pup.
I've adjusted the pickup height now to make it a little bit louder that the neck - which is my usual preference.

Hmm it is a strange issue. I played my CST-24T this weekend with the Seymour Duncan JB SH-4 in the bridge and it sounds freakin' amazing! With the JetCity's gain at 5.5, I get perfect distortion without absolute 0 buzz, fuzz or flabbyness. It's like a perfectly clean distortion. The lower strings in particular have a nice clear punch while power chords still stay very defined even at higher gain settings.
The Roswell neck pickup sounds muddy and bassy with gain. However it sounds glassy and sparkly when playing clean with the coil split. I will eventually replace the neck to better match the JB but I can live with it for now.
