Was looking at the new TC Pipeline but boy it's expensive! Then looked at CKK Frogman Tremolo which still cost more than I'm willing to give as I need to invest into other gear stuff as well.
Then I saw this Valeton Waveshaker! Has Volume and Bias controls and is very affordable. From reviews it seems to do its vintage trem thing well without noise and volume loss.
I think I will give it a try as I can always send it back to Thomann and get the CKK Frogman instead.

After some serious consideration and listening to the Tremolo demos of all kind and especially the Valeton and CKK Frogman I decided to get the one that certainly has more feel to it and knowing the quality of tone of my CKK Gears and CKK Lunar Drive I was more than confident to purchase the Frogman! I need a fantastic sounding tremolo but yet affordable and the Valeton trem lacks somthing, kind of sounds limited while the Frogman sounds lush and huge. This is from the only few demos I could find on Tube of course. Will update you once I get it!

Its Sunday today! I thought UK folks dont work Sundays! Gear4Music just dispatched my order, the CKK Frogman optical tremolo pedal based on the tremolo inside a Fender Twin Reverb amp! Can't wait to meet this beauty and give it a ride BTW, Mike Hermans demoed this pedal and it sounds killer! He even demoed the other two I have and I can say they do sound awesome (Gears and Lunar Drive) I love the way this pedal reacts well with clean and dirty tone still keeping the sizzle and not going flattish and narrow in tone, but rather wide and lush! Will report back once I get it! With this pedal Im sorted for my main wet sounds; Fender Marine Layer Reverb, Mooer Twin Reecho Pro Delay, CKK Frogman Tremolo

It sure sounds nice! I can see a Frogman coming my way in the near future as a replacement for my Boss tremolo. Even though the Boss also sounds very good I hate the drop in volume when it's engaged.

Oh, I cant stand Tremolos with no Volume knob! No no no must have me that volume otherwise its pain in da ... for me. I looked at so many and the Pipeline seems like a good choice too but can sound a bit "digital" a bit synhh like (to my ear anyway). It would be great for some crazy guitar fills and could have its use on stage as the Tone Print is just a fantastic tool. But I like a more simple approach where I can quickly find my prefered tones and whistles. I wonder if Gear4Music will order more of these CKK pedals as there is only one Frogman left in stock. Dont see many reviews on CKK products except from the well known youtubers. Folks are missing a lot on these!

CKK Frogman Tremolo joined the family! Initially, I wanted to have it last in the chain but that just sounded too atmospheric for my taste and placed it instead between Delay and dirt/comp. upload picNow to review this Tremolo pedal ehm,... well, ... its a Tremolo pedal and that's it. The main feature of it is the Volume Compensate knob that ranges from 0dB to 20dB and that's a fine thing! The rest is also fine with a wide range on the Depth and Speed and the 2-way toggle is for square or triangle wave shapes. Need to fiddle some more with it to get to know its sweet spots.

After playing it some more it sure suits my ST-62 better than the TE-70! Thats fine as the Strat always sounds better with chords that ring out and then some Tremolo

Got mine today. First impression, not that different from my Boss TR-2. Greatest plus for this one over the Boss is the volume control which was the main deciding factor me to try it out.

Yeah, its a Tremolo pedal nothing too special. I never played Boss pedals. My past tremolo experience was from Digitech RP255 and Tom'sLine Mod Station. This CKK Frogman surely has a wider range and a more organic sound to it, sounds fuller. Im happy with mine which also seals "Che's Staple Pedalboard" ! All extra pedals in the future will be, well, just extras. I dont know if you can use the extreme Square wave setting on a bass but for a guitar, it can be useful in certain songs I'm sure!

Forgot to ask; are you annoyed with the fact that CKK places the power jack on the side of their pedal? Man I hate it! Why wouldn't they all just have it on the TOP SIDE of pedals?!

I think I prefer square-wave (for now). Each manufacturer makes their own choice for the power sockets position. I've got them in all sorts of places on the pedals on my pedalboard but never experienced this as a problem regarding the position the sockets are in. I'm already glad they've (mostly) standardized the polarity and the type of sockets they use! The power cables I use are angled at the pedal side and straight at the power supply, they have about the same height as two EBS flat jacks opposite of each other, this is the minimum distance I try to keep between my pedals anyway.

Yes indeed if the jack was angled then it would not be an issue. My HB ISO-2 Pro power supply has cables with one straight end and one angled. Sadly I need to use the angled for the power supply as there is not much space under my new HB Spaceship 50M board! Will need to look at Thomann if they are selling cables with both ends angled! My old Mosky Mini supply has very thin cables which are angled on both sides but they also introduce a bit of noise which Im trying to live without Interesting to hear that you use the square wave! I like it for certain feels but seem to be at home with the triangle one!

I had a Danelectro Tuna melt a long time ago and I liked it, can’t remember why I sold it now.
This is my favourite use of Tremolo in a song
I really want a Mini moogerfooger tremolo even though it’s way out of my budget range.
