If you look for example at basses there are entry level basses from Yamaha like the TRBX 174 (230 EUR), BB 234 (300 EUR) or TRBX 305 (350 EUR) that I would always prefer since I know the quality is consistently high. Most of the time quality of HB instruments is high as well but there are some (or more on some models) inconsistencies that make it hard for me to justify buying HB in that price range.
Ah yes, the TRBX 174 does come in at a similar price to the HBZ from Harley Benton which is not very good. But I'd take a Harley Benton BZ-4000 over the BB.
Also have to compare apples to apples somewhat. The new line does have 5-string PJ configuration, something that is niche and often expensive. In fact Harley Benton only compete with themselves in this niche in the sub-500 range.

i hope Harley Benton will make available again the enhanced MJ5 in milky finish again ! im sad not in stock anymore... it was great without inlay, more thin tuners..
