Cables are always one of the first things I check, 9 out of 10 times they are the cause of a problem.
Most recent event for me was the standard nickel plated EBS patch cables on my pedal board, several has bad contact issues, they were still letting the signal through but with some volume loss and a very slightly distorted sound, just by wobbling them I found out which were giving me these problems. Decided to replace them on the entire board with the newer EBS gold plated patch cables and up to now these all work without a hitch.

Yeah, it does sound strange saying this hiss was there because of an old guitar cable (or the cable going from pedal to the amp) as it only hissed with this Mooer being On. But after swapping this cable for a brand new one (and better in my opinion) not only did the hiss go away but the over all signal was stronger and more clear! Yes sir from now on when I order strings from Thomann I will make sure to add a couple of cables as well!

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Sounds like it's the gain of the preamp that raises your hiss rather than the power amp which is your master volume. Weirdly I watched a video that recommended turning my master volume up full and using my other volume as a loudness control on the Katana (solid state so different internal gubbins). Can't say I cared for it much that way round though. What about you salteedog ? Is that the way you use the controls? Clean or in the crunch zone? I've tried both and my preference is for high master volume and lower volume. I also prefer running it at 25w and not .5w. But like everything else, opinions differ. I hadn't tried it again since fitting the doughnut so gave it another try this afternoon and I think I liked it better this time too. More responsive to the guitar's volume knob, cleaning up a little as I dialled down the volume on the guitar and then breaking up more as I whacked it up. It seems the two knobs are designed to replicate the way a tube amp responds. Like you again I found the 25w setting best for this. At 50w it just didn't seem to respond in the same way at all. What was odd was the sudden cut off of sound as I rolled the Katana's preamp volume down.

Just listened to this (from his pretty good sounding new record) and I remembered the discussion about reverse delay. Or is it reverse delay?
