DefJef, have you thought about just picking up a Bugera head and using the cabs from the combos you already have? It's very easy to add a connector to the existing combos so you can use them with a different head, just don't switch on the one that has no load on it.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Yeah I have thought of that or trying some of those lunch box jobs. But some of them are a bit pricey. I just looked at a second hand V22 head and it was more than a combo so that's a bit weird.

Oh thats grand as I need no Reverb. Much happy with my Fender Marine Layer and am also eyeing that new TC Hall of Fame.

I am obviously not a guitarist but I have both the Joyo Ultimate Drive and the Joyo American Sound (well, they are actually both Ammoon but they are the same pedal with different graphics).
I am not really a big fan of distortion, so I keep the American Sound on clean, just a little break up when digging in, and the Ultimate drive I set a little higher (still not full blown drive) that I run into the AS when needed for a more overdriven sound. When I really need a distorted drive sound, I have a Tube Screamer clone in front of the UD that really makes it distort (but loses plenty of low end, which neither the UD nor the AS do).
I am not sure exactly what level of overdrive you are looking for, but this gives me a nice warmth that is just on the verge.

So I will try your chain and see. My most recent experience of the Vintage Drive was that it seemed a bit muddy but maybe it depends on what volumes I am playing at. What kind of amp are you plugging all of these into? I am running them either into a Fender Rumble 500 (2x10") which is set pretty much flat (not at 12 o'clock), or through a DI into an interface to a JBL monitor. I have also tried it through my Meyer Sound setup and that sounds glorious
However, the Tube Screamer Clone and the Ultimate drive I have running inside a loop with a blend set at around 75% FX 25% clean, before I go into the American Sound, which gives me a nice clean low end that doesn't get distorted.
I use this same set up with my Piccolo Bass (bottom 4 strings of a guitar) and it sounds great playing blues etc. But as I said, I am not into overpowering drives.
My full chain is:
A/B Preamp > Tuner >
Dyna Compressor (always on at a very subtle setting)> Buff'n'Blend (set at 75/25)> Greenizer (Tube Screamer clone which I use very sparingly)> Ultimate Drive (set at a conservative level of drive)> Back to Buff'n'Blend> Meatbox (which I use very carefully when needed!!)> American Sound (set mostly clean, with just a little bit of breakup when digging in)> Zoom B3 (for Reverb, Chorus etc.)> A/B Switcher> Boss RC-3 (looper)> Dual Mute Pedal> Mini Mixer (to blend L and R from the looper)> Whirlwind DI> Fender Rumble or Audio Interface/Monitors or PA system.

Hmm. That made me take a little gander inside my loop switch JAC. It has 9v input but as far as I can see that's only to make a blindingly bright blue LED come on. I just used it without power and it operates fine. So I could take that power socket out which would give me a hole and enough room to add a pot. The wiring inside looks straight forward enough to cut into the straight through signal and the return signal and blend the two. I don't understand why there is a cap between the input and send and another between the return and out. Other than that the only other problem I can understand may be a phase one between the blended signals. You would have to ask the more electronically minded than me on this, but I am pretty sure that just adding a blend pot to a passive circuit could end up giving you all kinds of feedback and impedance issues. I think the caps in your pedal are for that same purpose, to avoid feed back between circuits, but as I said, I am no electronics expert.
