Hi, Currently i own a hb jb 20 and traded my squier affinity strat for an old active Harley Benton bass. I have been trying to figure out what model this is but cant find it on the web. It has a 3 way switch and 4 pots wich i cant see on any other hb bass. The man i traded with said he bought from someone 15 years ago. Here are some pictures ibb.co/T4nq8GVibb.co/FhQRmsVibb.co/vYWRGX9I hope someone know more about this bass and what electonics are inside. Currently it only works as a passive bass bacause of a faulty pot and i hope im able to fix this. Thnx in advance, Jillis

I remember seeing that bass back around the mid 2000's, but I'm afraid I can't help you with a model name.
If you can take off the cover and post a pic of the insides then maybe we can give you a hand with the electronics.

Few questions spring to mind. What makes you say it only plays in passive ? 3 way switch ? It's not an on/off switch,it control pickups so neck/both/bridge. Do any of the pots act as an on/off ? Are the knobs push on types or fixed by grub screw ? If it's by grub screw, try removing them then press the pot shafts. Maybe one will click and your problem will be solved :-) I have a Peavey USA Grind 5 that the last 3 owners reported having a faulty preamp. The knob was fixed too far down the shaft to allow it to operate. Moved the knob 1mm up and bingo, working preamp. Shame Peavey chose a crap preamp for it

The same four pots can be seen on the old B-400 models. These had a simple Les Paul 50s wiring of two volume and two tone controls as described here but no switch. The pick-ups were active, not the rest.
