Everything sounds okay to me. That crackling you're hearing is probably due to mpeg compression Soundcloud is using. When you move you're hands from the string and you have some buzzing you don't have a grounding issue, most likely proper shielding will remove most of it.

The G string was too far away from the edge of the fretboard in comparison to the E string.
I unscrewed the neck screws just a little so to be able to push the neck sideways to align the neck with bridge. Now I have a 1mm gap between the neck and pocket but the strings look tidy on the fretboard.
I'm very much enjoying this Shorty! Need to strap it on as it sounds best when plucked just between the bridge and pickups but when sitting it's difficult to play this way.
As soon I get a chance I will try to lay a drum track for the bass line I've played above and try to figure out a guitar riff so to hear how this Little Beasty sounds in the mix. Love this thing!

One of the major advantages of a bolt neck! You can adjust it sideways.

Bolt on necks rock shim it or adjust sideways. One thing I do hate with bolt on is when they spray paint the neck pocket! It becomes slippery and such manipulation only possible if one places a thin sandpaper between pocket and neck heel! I much prefer bare wood in the pocket as is case with my Tele and Strat and this Shorty too. My HB Dynamic had spray painted cavity hi-gloss same as on my ex G&L Fallout! Both are gone now! Why oh why would someone decide to spray paint the neck pocket where you need as solid contact as possible, like wood on wood?! The worst is that paint raises the wood grain and wood "hairs" in the cavity and no one bothers to sand it down!
