couple of Harley Benton acoustics I’vE always meant to get round to trying out. after the end of March it could be a lot pricier what with customs charges, WTO tariffs and a plunging pound. i’m Contemplating a big splurge on Benton and Thomann items shortly... any other brits have any thoughts on this?

I only discovered HB guitars a few years ago, about the time of the referendum. Since then I've been bought 8 HB guitars, the last one just a few weeks ago. The prices are always rising - just look at the price paid and check it against the present price. The last thing I want is to pay import duty so I will be getting at least one more, maybe two in the next few weeks. So it does make sense to stock up while the getting is good.

Oh, crap! So its happening in March this year?! I should go off to eBay.co.uk and stock on those solderfree harnesses for Strats and Teles as those sold on german ebay are too expensive and those from US and Australia get custom chanrges of course! At least Thomann now stocks the Emerson ready made harness's but they are not offering 5 way for Tele. ... sorry Im going off topic here as Im from Denmark! ... hm, ... maybe I should start making those ready made harness's and sell them in EU from now on?! (will need to find a soldering course)

One of the brex**** flagship policies is the end of free movement so unless you're filthy rich already or you have a British granny the door will remain shut 😁 hip hip hooray!

Honestly I'm worried as hell about it. Unless something is sorted out in the next few weeks, we face a situation which could be very bad in the UK, bad in Ireland and with negative impact in Europe and further afield. I'm not a shotgun cartridges and tinned food type of guy but I wouldn't be surprised if 2008 type wave were to hit if an agreement isn't found soon and a no-deal comes to pass. I fear long term impacts to trust in institutions, democracy and peace (in these islands) ... worst case scenario is very bad indeed - I just hope people cop on to themselves and embrace some compromise.
Glad to see they have made plans to evacuate the Royal family though!

Yes...you cannot just leave and expect life to go on as normal. There are agreements and laws and all sorts of processes that underly society that folks take for granted but which are based on being part of the EU. Unravelling them is a serious job of work. The BBC have a good primer on it all. The current sticking point is the 'backstop'. When you were living in Dublin, did you ever travel to Northern Ireland. Did you notice the border? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-32810887

I still don't understand the referendum result.
Normally 48% of the population ignores the wishes of the other 52%!
