So I was looking into this particular model because about 10 years ago, a friend I no longer have contact with had a Harley Benton FV-430 (the one that looked exactly like the Gibson V). And I was absolutely in love with that guitar. I was wondering how similar this model is to it's predecessor as I'd really love to have a guitar like the one from way back then but they seem to be impossible to come by and I've no idea what even happened to them.

All the Gibson-like models were updated to be slightly different from the originals. The SC/Les Paul has a sharper cut away, the DC/SG is a little asymmetrical and the Victory has a different V as well as a PRS-like headstock: Specs appear to have stayed the same (basswood body, unbranded ceramic PUs) apart from the fingerboard which is no longer rosewood.

I found an intermediate version of the modified model with an Ibanez-style headstock. If I were to be tempted by the shape, I would certainly like the Flame model but the black and gold with Roswell PUs is good looking too, although I'd probably go with the sharper sound of the cheaper ones.

Wow that black and gold one is very classy. Thank you this was very helpful. I Think I've made my decision!

So what is it going to be?
The black & gold has Roswell LAF pick-ups, the same used in the SC-450 Plus, the SC-550 Tobacco Flame, the semi-hollow CST-24HB and the recent black or turquoise Fusion II. It won't sound the same as that old FV-430.

Shhhhht ! Do not feed the attorney Nah, it will be just fine in the EU. How long before Thomann reverts to a closer copy? Or maybe Harley Benton will just be proud of itself and stay as is ;-)
