hi,
I recently got a Harley Benton TE-52 and I am happy with it
Now I am playing around with the setup, trying to find the right setting that fits me.
I tried to follow the setup values given by fender:
What I find a bit problematic is the action, if I set it under 2.5mm (measured at the 17th fret), I start to get fret buzz all over the fretboard. I have a neck relief of about 0.25, or even slightly more at the 8th fret, so that should not be the problem.
What is your working setup with the TE-52? are you experiencing similar issues as I do?
Thanks!

I set minimal relief and take the action as low as possible, down to buzzing then up again for each string. Quite often on a Harley Benton, this will be limited by higher frets in one or two spots. I file these spots down. I have also seen people tap them with a soft hammer (it's fast but I would be worried of creating high frets around them by tapping too far down).
I measure at the 12th fret and only for reference purpose:
Aria TS-600 1,05-1,35 mm Ibanez SA 1,35-1,4 mm Schecter Omen 1,05-1,2 mm Wild Mahogany Strat' 1,2 - 1,5 mm Ibanez S521 1,05 - 1,48 mm Harley Benton ST-62 MN SB 1,1-1,75 mm Harley Benton R-458 1,3 - 1,65 mm Harley Benton SC-450Plus 1,15-1,25 mm Ibanez S470 1,25-1,45 Harley Benton ST-62 DLX 1.15-1.60 mm Harley Benton SC-7 1.25 - 1.4 mm

ok, thanks for the values, it's good to have them as a reference.
do you do the measurement at the 12th fret with or without a capo? I did it without.

ok. then if my action is about 2.5 (or slightly more) sounds like too much, isn't it? but if I go lower I start to get some buzzing between the 5th and the 12th fret...

My ST-62 is at 1.7-1.85 mm at the 17th fret (from high to low E). This is as close as I'll ever get to a TE-52 Look for high frets with a fret rocker or a credit card, or anything straight that will cover no more than the space of three frets.

All these values are bull**** if you take them for a must be. The only thing that rules your set up is your feeling. And the only limit to the lower action you want is the quality of the fret work.
Only one fret sets the limit : the highest one..... And HB is not particulary good at it.
TIP : use a credit card to locate the delinquant fret, and a plastic hammer to gently push it down to its neighbour's level

thanks for your answer!
I actually wanted to lower the action because it felt indeed to high when I play the guitar. I am used to fender guitars, the action is indeed lower.
I will check for uneven frets, thank you!
