I bought a set of alnico 5 zebra pups as a possible swap for the original pups on one of my guitars.
The pups are branded Belcat on the base, they have 4 wires plus a bare ground. The sellers blurb stated them as 9k neck and 12k bridge. When I received them there was no paperwork or wiring scheme, the green and white wires are twisted together and may even have a dab of solder holding them? The red, black and bare wires are all separate, I did a quick test on my meter and got 9.44k neck and 10.64k bridge. I also did a henries reading and got 2.9h neck and 3.2h bridge.
I do not wish to split the coils , I am however tempted to pull green an white wires apart and do more extensive testing.
The pups I was thinking of swapping are 12.5k neck and 16.5k bridge and 7.3h and 8h respectively.
Is it me or do the Belcat pups seem too close in terms of resistance and low in terms of Inductance?
While these pups are of Chinese origin and cheap I was looking to try something less hot but I'm now wondering if they will be too low in terms of output.
I should have just gone for ceramic 2 wire version and kept it simple. I don't want to get into wiring them in parallel, I know that's supposed to make them brighter and less hot and still be hum cancelling.
Just wanted to know if anyone has used similar spec humbuckers? I find my original pups to hot and gainy, I just wanted a smoother slightly brighter set of pups.

Might as well give them a try. I looked up the DCR of my HB35 humbuckers, Neck 7.2 and Bridge 8.5. I didn't have H value on these pickups however.
Let us know how they sound!
