I'm refinishing my swamp ash ST-90 and am so disappointed to find the routing of the tremolo cavity cut into the stud holes. Very important consideration when routing don't you think? What a let-down on such an otherwise very nice guitar.

Harley Benton have been great at replicating proven designs at low cost but it seems each time they change them a little or come up with something new we're in for a couple of surprises. It's like that old fretless bass I got which had a nut cut at the same height as for the fretted model. Great joke

That's right. The holes for the mounting studs on the trem plate. I'm fairly new to this site and don't know if photos can be posted but I'd be glad to do so if someone could fill me in on how it's done.

I use postimage others on here use alternative picture hosting sites etc.

I had a look at the routing of my ST-62 and that of my Ibanez SA which has a 2-point bridge. There isn't much wood around the 6 screws and I can see how wider stud holes can become too large in the same design. The Ibanez bridge appears to leave just a little more room between the saddles and the line for the 2 points.

How long have you had that ST-90? Do the studs appear to have been pivoting under the push of the bridge?

I only had it for a few weeks before I decided to refinish it so the studs holes were not enlarged at all but I don't use the trem bar much. The studs did slide out too easily so upon reassembly I'll consider my options. I really like this guitar though. When I finish the tobacco brown sunburst it will definitely be a keeper.
