Can't post photos at the moment my Pc is sick! Will post photos when PC is sorted out.
SG Copy Bax House brand, appears close to proper body shape. Only had a few hours with it but these are my initial findings.
Out of the box, can't find any finish/cosmetic flaws/defects. The neck is bolt on and has a scarf joinf, it appears the neck is bare no finish of any sort but nice and smooth. The strings were very loose and the neck looked dead straight by eye. The headstock is finished the same colour as the body.
I tuned it, checked intonation 👍 checked for dead/buzzy frets none. 👌
I measured the action low E 1.3 high 1.2 at 12th fret (never had a guitar out the box that low). This is a bit low for my liking. The fret ends are nicely shaped/angled and smooth not a chance of a scratch let alone a cut. 👍
I haven't used a fret rocker yet, the fret have the same desease most HB's have they could do with a polish/dress. They are a bit gritty when bending but crowned nicely. The tail piece and bridge are set well, good string angle not hitting the back of the bridge. The pickups both work and are not microphonic they actually don't sound too bad. All controls work smoothly and as they should.
I'm going to leave it for a few days then set it up to my preferences and polish the frets.
I have to say it's surpassed my expectations by a mile. Is it as good as an HB? Probably not but not too far away. I've not taken the control cover off to check wiring etc or took any readings of the pups. Likewise I need the check the nut properly although it doesn't look to bad.
After I've had time with it and got it set up to my preferences, I'll give an update. I have to say at the moment it's a keeper, I love the look of it and enjoyed my initial playing of it. 👍
I paid the outrageous sum of £68 (yes just £68), it was advertised as a sale price cut. At the moment it's looking like the best £68 I've spent on anything guitar related. 😁
An amozon link to show photos if anyone interested.
