I've been looking for a nice dual P90 equipped guitar for a while, and having lived in my flat for near enough 1 year now I have a handle on my budget and what I can afford without having to live on gruel.
So I've ordered myself a Gordon Smith GS2 P90, it should hopefully arrive in the next few weeks before I'm so overcome with buyer's remorse that I just cancel the order!

I haven't been able to find any real negative comments about their current manufacturers, I gather that before the takeover there were some issues creeping in. It is a very workmanlike guitar, no carves on this one, simple LP double cut shape, it already has a couple of dings in it that I'm aware of, they didn't look like anything significant to me and resulted in a discount price!
I was first looking at the HB P90 equipped varieties, then I went up to looking at the Vintage guitars range, and then I thought "bugger it" let's go for a keeper.

Fingers crossed you like it MartinB. π€ I think buyers remorse is a myth planted by wives/girlfriends or jealous people. π If I get the slightest tinge of guilt for buying myself something, I just think of those old L'OrΓ©al adverts. You know the ones where someone famous says something like "it's a luxury but I'm worth it". Works for me MartinB and I expect you know your worth it too. π π

I'm really sure that I'll like it, beyond just the guitar itself Gordon Smith seems like a really switched on company. I'll have to adopt that method blindwilly3fingers

It does feel like an investment in a way, not that I expect it to appreciate in value, but that it's something that'll be around for a long time, like the Koa guitar and the Danelectro.

Where's it winging from MartinB ? 'citing times. It's another order from Richard's Guitars, they seem a really good shop to me, the fact that each instrument is setup in house before shipping is really important to me as I lack the knowledge and skills to perform a full setup myself. They're one of the main dealers for Gordon Smith in the UK.

It arrived a few minutes ago, waiting for it to get up to room temp.

DefJef the finish feels really nice under the hand, the knobs are surprisingly stiff (fnarr fnarr), it came with some treats, a thick leather strap, a flanger pedal and Schaller strap locks, just been wrestling with the strap to get the strap locks in. I don't know if it's because of the massive strap but it hangs perfectly, couldn't feel any head dive, your post the other day was spot on WRT the button location, itching to plug it in!

Had a little go with it clean and through my op amp big muff, it's powerful but has a good clarity to it, I really like it

Great looking guitar MartinB congratulations. I know it's had setup done before shipping but how do you rate the setup? It definitely looks the dogs. π π π π
