Youtube user "asdfasdfasdf7900" compares his Harley Benton LP kit with a Schecter.
According to his description:
Harley Benton LP Kit - stock hardware & pickups, DIY from scratch - ≈$150 Schecter Revenger 7 - non-stock pickups, neck: EMG 81-7; bridge: EMG 707 - ≈$500
Chain: EMU-0202 usb; Amplitube 3 - clean: default preset "RESET", hi-gain: Orange Thunderverb 200; Yamaha HS80M; Canon 60D internal mic.
Personally, I like the finish he did on the LP body.

I like this kit but I am scare of making guitar by my own. Is difficult to make? It's less difficult than making one from scratch, but if you lack patience/skill it can be quite annoying. Though if you know someone whose tools and knowledge you can use, you can make a beautiful custom guitar.
