So a bit of feedback please.... How are the weights on Sc models do you think? I look at the spec of guitars which look the same (or very similar spec) seem to have misleading weights. Examples include SC-450 where two basswood models are (P90 GT) 4.57 kgs and (CB Classic) 5.32 shipping weights. confusing to say the least .... I ask because I had a Epiphone Les Paul and it weight a ton - love to get the SC-450 with P90s but like the finish of the CB classic better, so was thinking - buy the CB Classic and change to P90s ... but I would not want to end up with a guitar the weight of a Less Paul....

It varies form one guitar to another and Im talking about same models, but in general all the HB LP guitars are about the same lets say plus minus 4kg its like a lottery you never know what your gonna get

I concur with Che. They can vary by up to 1kg from one to the next of the same spec. Even real Gibsons can suffer the same swing although perhaps not quite the same percentage.

Sorry guys, but a LP-Style Guitar NEEDS some weight! I would prefer it to have weight if I'm going to use it as a head basher too

I play sitting down. Solves all problems except V guitars.

I have problems with playing a LP sitting because its bottom heavy and I love me neck to be on a 45'deg. angle when playing sitting (or standing) so even sitting I would have a strap on so heavy it remains

I got a b-stock SC-Custom P90 with the sensational weight of 3,42 kg!!! I am seriously thinking of getting it pleked (although thats more than the actual guitar!) and install good pickups. it feels superb! Any one of you also got such a light instrument??

The SC-Custom is thinner than other SC's. I wouldn't bother with Plek, just go over the frets with a rocker and file the few down which need to. It's an easy job.

Spot levelling a couple of frets is OK but can lead to the fret either side of the one you have just levelled becoming high. It can end up a chase me Charlie scenario.
If you have it pleked it should be perfect (but costly).
I would suggest a complete fret level but if you are not confident or don't have the tools. Then it's which is best plek or fret level by a luthier due to cost?
The weights do vary on the SC's much like most LP type guitars.

Okay, then maybe the weight is not really sensational for the sc-custom model , but a friend of mine got the same model with 4,2kg.Whatever, it is really a great guitar. Unfortunately it´s got an ugly fretboard with two small cracks in it (i think that´s why somebody sent it back and it became b-stock). But that doesn´t matter, i live the guitar and it was only 189€. Generally speaking, i think the p90-Harleys are really good. A few days ago they sent me a 4,5kg TE-52 which had several quality issues and sounded ok. I sent it back. So it´s always a matter of luck with Harly Benton.

My own SC-Custom weighed about 4Kg and was bottom heavy. Wood density varies from tree to tree and from bottom to top within a tree. It doesn't prevent people from making blanket statements about wood species.
I have a guitar (not a Harley Benton) with a tectonic plate rift running from the 17th to 21st fret. The fingerboard hasn't been drifting apart and it's one of my favourites. No eruption so far (can't play it anyway).
