Having bought 3 guitars in under 8 months, I figured my next investment should be an amp. Impressed with the quality of my previous HB purchases, I reckoned I could buy a second HB amp. I browsed the Thomann site for a while, and I saw the HB-40R. Which I thought looked quite nice. So: does anyone have experience with this amp? Or other nice amps in the price range of 90-120 euros?

Stay away from the cheap HB apms please I tried the 20 watts and have the 15 watts now. They are not good in my opinion. Instead buy a Digitech RP 70 guitar processor(power supply included) which is like a modeling amp with great sound and then buy a Randal 35 watt cabinet. That is a dream package for a started practice kit. In the RP70 you have ALL the pedals and effects and amps and Randal is a much better speaker than those in HB amps. The only HB amp I would buy is the one with all tubes (too expensive for my budget). You can also just buy the RP70 and play it via headphones which I do and it sounds stereo www.thomann.de/gb/digitech_rp70ps.htmwww.thomann.de/gb/randall_rg8_cabinet.htm

Personally I don't have much experience with guitar amps, but I have played a few of the HB bass amps, and to be honest, they were sort of on par for the price they were asking.
I agree with che that if you can afford something more, then make that extra push, it is always worth it (within reason) when buying amps.
If you do think of the pedal (processor) route, check out some of the Zoom line up, they make some excellent sims.

Thank you for your quick response! The amp I have at the moment is a HB10G, it sounds quite nice, especially for its price, not great, but average. But I am starting a metal band, so I need something with more power in it. I have tried an all-tube of a friend of mine and some more amps, transistor and tube and must say I like much transistor better. So, any 40+ watt transistor amps you happen to know of : P?

Did you get a new amp? After playing with me new Kustom PH2021R I thought of your post here and man I think you should try this amazing amp in your near by shops or somehow. Its a GREAT amp. Its solid state and very simple but ars kicking sound. Eventhough it is a transistor amp it got such amazing tube sound when max drive is engaged so it gives you 2 option with or without max drive. I like the clean for delay acoustic sound but mostly riff on the max drive and the reverb on this amp is amazing also. The 12" Kustom speaker gives a kick ars full sound so so so COOL man! It is 20watt but I doubt that because this thing is loud, very loud. I have no balls to go all the way up with it when on max drive, bleeding ears I dont know if its loud enough for gigging but the sound is awesome so for your quality practice at home it should be great. I love amps which dont hiss and this is one such amp, me happy a lot! If I ever buy a tube amp it will be the defender Kustom 5 head and Kustom cabinet but for now this little devil is delivering just beautifully. The Kustom 100 watt has 2 12" speakers but from the videos I hear lots of hiss which is a big no no for me, not so with this amp of mine. Its wort trying it out. Its a bit over your price range but boy its worth it trust me

But I'll see how that Kustom sounds, thanks for the tip!

I know this thread is a bit old, but anyway:
My next Amp will be the Blackstar ID:60 TVP or 260, depends on how much money I can save for it. They are both more expensive then 90 - 120€ and have a Valve Emulation for many tubes. BUT Blackstar has some cheaper models too. And the best thing IMHO is that you can connect them to your PC via USB to record music. In my early days I used a 30W Crate solid state amp, which was cheap but sounded ok for the 200 something DM (Deutsche Mark) I payed at the time. After that I only used Hughes & Kettner Amps, solid state and tube.
But I really get the choice problem you have, I´m looking for a new amp since nearly 1 year and couldn´t decide until I found the Blackstar.

EvolatoR, as I have said before, I don't have much experience with guitar amps (mainly only Vox and Marshall), but I have found in the past that items that try to do multiple tasks for a cheap price are not usually very good at any of them. I mean, and please don't think I am saying this is the case with the Blackstar as I have never tried/seen one, usually products that incorporate audio interfaces with amps, or mixing desks etc. for a price that is the same as just an amp or just an interface, have to cut costs somewhere. A lot of the time, these costs are cut by using cheaper electronical components, which although they may sound great out of the box, quickly develop noises and faults over time. I have had this issue with many products over the years, and usually end up replacing them with two separate products, mainly because of quality, but also because if something fails, you only loose part of your setup. There are many exceptions to this rule (the Zoom B3 for example, which is great allround, if you're a bassist obviously), so sometimes we do get lucky. Just make sure you research properly, and if possible, find users that have had it for some time and use it regularly. Just my tuppence

I too never tried Blackstar but I DID try the VOX Valvetronix 20+ and that too is a modeling amp which is just terrible in my opinion. I have returned it to Thomann and bought the Kustom PH12012 solid state with a 12" speaker nice! I would rather suggest to get a nice solid state and then get a decent multi fx pedal. I have the Digitech RP70 and some here use Zoom multi pedals with great results (great sounding). I love mine (for practice that is)

may I ask a question here... I have too many guitars now (according to SHMBO ) and am really enjoying the new experience .. But I've got a basic practice amp = VOX VX1 modding - which to be frank isn't bad.... but then I've nothing else to measure it by ... Reading stuff here and other sites I guess the time has come to branch out into something wider.. I do love the sounds the Vox give me when selecting the VC30 option, so I followed Che's link to this www.thomann.de/gb/hotone_nano_legacy_british_invasion.htmand this Randall AmpSo this would give me a basis I think... but then should I not add a multi thingie to learn more about different sounds/options? My question is would those two above work with this (again a Che's recommendation I think - thanks Che..... Digiteck RP90Thanks for your help.

Dont upgrade to an 8 inch speaker go for a 12" you will be happy you did. The sound from a 12" is so rich. Go with the 12 inch Harley Benton cab, the vintage with the Celestion for example but even the cheaper one got good reviews. The Nano amps got real good reviews so go for it.
My digitech RP70 which is very much the same as the one you talk about is a great sounding tool via Headphones but less so on the amp. It is also great for recording direct into the interface.
I would go with single effect pedals for that configuration. Look at the BIYANG and NUX pedals at ebay and aliexpress. ENO pedals and ANDOER are also good choice.
But then again we dont hear sound the same so maybe you will like the sound coming from RP90 via the speaker.
