New Fake Guitar Day. Kind of. I'm about 99% sure I'm having it. It sounds as it should, looks really well, the hardware is aging and wearing nicely and plays great apart from the nuts been cut a bit deep on the A so a new one is needed. The wiring & pots were upgraded by the last owner. The only thing putting me off is the Gibson logo on the head stock but if I keep it I'll take care of that. Long story short it plays better than any Epiphone I've owned and for what it is it's a steal.

Nice! So this is what they call a "Chibson"? That's the one marit. I hear they're a bit hit & miss but this one's had some electrical work done on it since its been in the UK, a few years apparently.

Looks nice. How is the set up? I've heard that some Chibsons don't have truss rods, which might be a problem

Looks nice. How is the set up? I've heard that some Chibsons don't have truss rods, which might be a problem I have 3 Chibsons, all have working truss rods. I know plenty of Chibson owners (online) and have never once heard of them arriving sans truss rod. I have heard of one case of a truss rod being blocked by the poly dripping in to the hole. A lot of misinformation is spread around by collectors and others who have a vested interest in keeping prices artificially high. The old snake oil doesn't work like it used to.

I was thinking about getting PRS-less a while ago to be honest, but dropped the idea.

There's gotta be good Chibsons out there, especially when you can do some upgrades and fool the world!

This is a good one but it's 3rd hand and been gigged by the other owners so any faults have been rectified. I've done the deed today anyway so she's now mine. God, works dragging.

Nice one, John! The real Gibsons, even the very expensive custom models, come with problems these days. Gibson ain't Gibson no more, hurray Harley Benton / Chibson!

The cheaper the better for me marit. Even if I had £3K spare I wouldn't spend it on a guitar. At my level it'd be like buying a dog a car.

The cheaper the better for me marit . Even if I had £3K spare I wouldn't spend it on a guitar. At my level it'd be like buying a dog a car. I was just snooping through a Guitarist magazine this evening down the supermarket (well, they're £6.35. Outrageous) and reading about the usual 'relaunched' Fenders and 'updated' Gibsons and I suddenly realised that most off these guitars are ten to twenty times more expensive than I am expecting them to be. I have truly been Harley Bentonized. If it ain't under £200 new I'm not interested. I get all my fun at those prices.
