Great vid r3v3nt0n! Will watch it more in depth in a little while but after have a quick look at it, I have to say I think the SC-450+ could well be the one for me! I've also been looking at that Vintage MRPGM truth be told, I know it has a great reputation as a great, affordable LP type guitar. Would love to hear your opinion on it versus the SC-450+.

For what it's worth the Harley Benton TE-52 (Tele style) has the thickest neck of any of the HB guitars I have.

I'm sure some people would say that both guitars, SC 450+ and Vintage V100MRPGM are more or less the same guitars. Probably due to a simular neck access cutaway. Some even speculate they come from the same factory, but I don't think that's the case. Vintage is supposedly made in Vietnam. Well in my case, the difference is worth the price payed. Although SC 450+ is a well built guitar, I had to adress a lot of things and did a complete setup on mine. It was kind of just OK, straight out of the box. Action a bit high over the first fret, crappy cheap bridge, tuner bushings were forced out of their holes and fretboard was realy dirty. I've decided to keep it, because other than that, it seemed quite all right. I needed a platform to learn some setup skills anyway. So I have changed the nut, bridge and tailpiece, leveled and polished the frets and sanded and cleaned the fretboard. Vitage, however, was gigable straight out of the box. Seriusly. Great setup, superb tuners and very good pickups. I gues I could say that after all my work and aftermarket parts, Benton would be comparable, but realy isn't. Strangely, both guitars are supposed to be made from the same kind of wood, but Vintage sounds and resonates so much better acoustically. It just has that LP sound. It is the real deal. But I must say that SC 450+ plus is still one of the best guitars for the money. It just needs a good setup. The other great, cheap Harley Benton is TE-52. Simular neck to SC 450+, even fater from the fifth fret down.

Cheers for the frank and honest comparison r3v3nt0n! I do know quite a few guys that absolutely swear by that particular Vintage guitar, it seems to very much be the jewel in their crown so to speak. salteedog - That's interesting because I've never actually considered a Tele style guitar until now, when it comes to Fender guitars I've always been a strat guy. I will have a look at it, maybe some out of the box thinking (for myself anyway) could be just the thing.

That is true DefJef, Teles show up on record of just about every genre ever in one form or another!

Given you have a Jackson and are thinking about LP shapes, you probably err to the side of shreddy, riffing hard rock tones. Don't forget though Jimmy P used a 52 Tele on the first two Led Zep records (and on a fair bit of 3 and 4 too). Communication Breakdown practically needs a Tele to sound right

I think that a humbucker/P90 neck Tele with a typical Tele bridge is a good compromise.

@ salteedog - Yeah I got the Jackson because it was a "metal" brand guitar with the floyd and all that fun stuff, that was back when I was listening to a lot of Megadeth, mostly because of Marty Friedman. My music tastes have broadened since then, but I do still love me a good old hard rock riff.
@ MartinB - I wouldn't mind playing around with a p90, never had a guitar with one before so that could be fun, I have to say though, if there's one thing I really dislike about tele style guitars it's that ashtray bridge. I'm sure there's a tonne of people that love them but I am not one of them, gimmie the bridge Leo designed for the ASAT Special any day.
