I have a green one. I wonder if differences between the tubes are the reason for the volume variances.... I have already replacement tubes at home but wanted to play more with the stock setup also in order to break in the speaker. I changed the tubes in my Laney and there was no difference in volume before/after. But with these amps you never know. Do you have tubes at hand so you could try to swap them? |

Nope...I should have bought some when I placed an order with Thomann a few weeks ago but in the rush I forgot.(it was for a Deko guitar).
I really need to keep my wish list up to date for those eventualities.

I replaced pre-amp tube V1 (12AX7) with a 12AY7 at the weekend. This reduced the overall pre-amp gain as expected - and max volume is now reduced. The volume knob is now more usable and the transition from clean to breakup is a tad sweeter I think.
