That poor Jazz bass control plate looks so lonely on the Elwood Absolution 4A. All abandoned without the scratchplate it was designed to nestle into. Aww. I agree, it would look so much better without it. Good job that you get to choose all the options when ordering (well, except for the option of 10 years interest free credit )

We'd better all stick to HBs.

It's strange how many of these guitars you see and how few basses... Gibson Les Paul Bass

It has been a while since I posted anything here, so to revive the wounded thread, here are a few basses that are somewhat exclusive to those who can afford them Alembic, who have been around for a very long time, making instruments for all kinds of artists, such as the Grateful Dead, Stanley Clarke, etc. They are able to create simple but elegant designs such as:
Through to some more "unique" finishes:
And some that are completely insane...

I would be afraid to ask, knowing bass players go long way to get their unique tone

Aye Skelf is turning out some lovely basses. (Skelf is Scots for wood splinter). A few that caught my eye over the years. Peavey B-Quad, stereo wiring, piezo bridge + VFL pickups, Modulus neck. Most expensive Peavey bass. Next the Tune Maniac fretless. Again piezo, covers 3 octaves if you feel the need for the plinking note . Vigier Passion III. Gods, it's one sexy bass.

Nice idea putting the controls in the bridge for a minimal look. Top marks. I'm sure blablas would be revving up his lathe the minute he'd ordered one to turn out some more wooden knobs. Hmm, Wooden Knobs? Sounds like an ideal name for a bass player with Mott the Hoople.
