Don’t need it to look an awful lot like a JM, really. Just as long as it doesn’t look out of place. I like the look of the oversized JM pickups, through, so I will definitely have to rout the body. It would really be easier if the JA-60 came stock with the Roswell JM pickups. The Fender Pure Vintage (the grey ones) are supposed to have that original JM “sparkle” btw. I hated 50's wiring on my Tele! The pickups lost their dynamics and that fine ODed creamy sizzle. Just terrible sounding. 😳 Will remember to check out 50’s wiring if I get a Gibby style guitar, and wire this one up like a general JM treble circuit.

Wow, what fantastic sound of the 59 Jazzmaster in that excellent video: The new Squier Jazzmasters sound muddy as hell compared to the 59. I will ask Craig now if his Jazzmaster pups have this sparkle (and judging from his P90 and humbuckers I think YES) and if he could wind them in a soapbar. I’m seriously excited! Thanks for posting this vid. Definitely need the sparkle!

Folks don't forget this model comes with Blacwood! Don't trust that wood for keeping the frets in place! My HB traveler has issues due this wood either being too soft or else. It just looks like a cheap plank of wood.

I have a JA60 with stock Wilkinson P90s....I think they are great sounding pickups. Stock the guitar has A250 tone pot, a B250 vol pot and 22nf cap. 500k pots would make it a little brighter but I prefer it the way it is. That‘s interesting to hear as this setup was too muddy for my taste. I also prefer log pots on the tone because I like the reaction to turns (with linear pots it‘s not immediate enough for my liking). I'll be reversing the pots anyway...I'm lefthanded and Harley Bentons are always wired incorrectly for Lefties. I generally prefer my tone a little on the dark side...I've another P90 guitar with 500K pots and I always roll off the tone.

I am not sure a JM pickup in a P90 housing would be quite the same, part of the sound is supposed to be from the width and flatness of the copper wire. But I have never had a JM pickup in a different housing.

I'm hoping that G&L make a budget version (Is that their Tribute line?) of the Doheny, or maybe I can make some bizarre Telemaster/blaster type thing.
