Well well,
After so many yeras of gasing for a gibson SG, i finally pulled the trigger on a new 2013 G SG 70'stribute for 440€, first thing i noticed was people on various forums were right, 2013 was the last years of good QC at Gibson, well made peace of ringing wood, no flaws... This thing came equiped with the Dirty Fingers pickups, damn they are hot and loud (17k)!! At first i thought of retuning it, but hey, its the first time i had to play with the volume and tone knobs! This beast of a guitar can be tamed for ordinary rock, blues, hard rock, metal.... The pickuos deliver crystal clear sound, huge attack, sustain for years... its a joy to play, and despite its super light weight, it sustains for years... and very well balanced, no neck dive! all in all, a G for 400€ that can do it all, not bad.
But i still love my DC-Custom!

I am slowly replacing my LP type guitars because I don´t want to bear the weight anymore.
I ordered the SG 50s Tribute from 2013 for 444,- EUR (which is up for grabs at Musicstore.de quite soon again) and I sent it back.
The P90s were good, it screamed like hell but there were some niggles (pu switch not working, ...) which made me send it back.
I upgraded to a SG Special 2016 HP and this thing is a monster. The mini humbuckers are awesome, sustain for years, ...
Will open a thread in the next weeks once I have tested out it even more.

I got mine from musicstore.de as well, they had a very good sale going on old Gibson overstock, could not resist!

I'm interested in whether folk stand when playing at home. DerAlex, I think you said elsewhere that you don't play live? Do you still choose to stand when recording or playing at home? Does it help your playing or is it always better to choose to not stand when you can sit and, as Churchill suggested, not sit when you can lie down!? If you sit is the weight still any kind of problem? Balance certainly is. And the actual shape. But the weight?

But when I learn new stuff sitting down helps me. I also have no "fixed" position when sitting for the guitar - regardless of LP, Tele or now the SG. And no, the weight is not a "problem" - I find the LP weight annoying so to speak. And yes, it has to do with balance that the weight is causing me to lose focus.

Now it seems that all the stock is gone. The cheaper guitars are all gone, but they still have some +1000€ and 2018 models on sale.. Was eyeing another cheap SG, the Future tribute or the 60's Tribute that run the 57 classic pups, but it seems they are all gone too.. No wonder since they sold them cheap..

The SG Fusion is a very low end Gibson, the finish and paint work are ugly as hell, saw one in a store few years ago, and honestly it looked like a self made guitar! and not sure about the pickups, it should be a max 200€ guitar!

I usually play standing up.
