It seems this is what people are willing to pay for a guitar with a cracked neck: I'm all for setting things up, polishing and even levelling a high fret myself if I have to. I would consider replacing electronic parts and give a go at the soldering iron, but as an unknowing layman, I wouldn't even touch that thing. Is it an easier repair than it seems?

Might be just a lacquer crack? I wouldn't gamble on it myself.

It is tempting to consider a best case scenario which would be a lacquer crack due to impact but I am thinking no. Looks like a fracture and would be difficult to get glue in there. I watched a repair guy fix something similar to this by glueing in two biscuits length-ways and he had a special jig for the routing. A clean break would be easier to deal with. That said maybe it is still playable and will continue to be so without problems. Hard to say just looking at the photographs. Big risk though and I would not pay anything near to the current bid. One redeeming factor is it is a bolt-on neck with a common 25 1/2 inch scale so sourcing a replacement neck should not be too difficult.

Anyone care to predict the final bid? I am going for 297 EUR I think the current bid is beyond what is reasonable already so my bet is that it will stay there but who knows? 60% of the new price is not unheard of.

I agree it is already over the top but my projection is based solely on the stupidity of the scale of the bids so far Look at this one. It times out at a similar time this evening. Gibson Les Paul Tribute 2018 Faded Honey Burst with a bit of a headstock problem. Current bid 401 EUR!

Oh well, Harley Bentons crack but they don't break I suppose a professional will ask for less than the 450€ price difference to fix that Gibson but it's still a stretch to want it in the first place. Fixing the HB, on the other hand, is barely worth it. It will sell for 250€ used in a few months.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

One of our best guitar wanglers here on the forum is intenselycalm . He has thought his way out of many a situation (admittedly some of them self-induced ) but would even you take on such a job intenselycalm ?

I reckon duct tape is the job for that

Blind faith, duct tape, guts, no common sense... I have all those things - I can do it!
I wouldn't buy it for the current price, but if I owned it already, I'd just make (or buy) a new neck for it. Sadly, it's a nice looking piece of wood in the neck, and it's a rather strange looking crack, would be nice to know how it came to be. Appears to be in the most figured area of the neck, interesting.
The headless Gibson has a rather strange guillotine style head removal going on. Wood can do some funny things. With either guitar, I'd rather have a longer break with the grain, rather than an abrupt dissection. Ouch! What am I saying, I'd rather have no break at all.
Oh well, bring it on! I am in between projects at the moment.

Look how it stops when it gets to the fretboard. The lacquer would be applied after the fretboard was glued on. That looks like a disaster. Love that flamed maple neck'n'fretboard! I think it's nicer having flamed fretboard than body as we all look more at the fretboard while playing!

I give extra value to the look of the fretboard and have a particular fondness for those which have a strong individuality. I once bought a guitar because its fretboard was unique and complemented the body.
