Im still learning how to merge audio files and videos. This one I did as a simple photo slide in Windows Live Movie Maker yet to learn how to merge me playing and the audio file from Reaper but will go into that soon. This bass is a joy to Rock I love it to bits! I have been playing it for 3 days now and I just took the LP guitar to play it a bit and the guitar seems SOOOO tiny in my hands, my fingers almost missing entire frets. Its amazing how fast fingers get used to another instrument. Must keep playing both instruments every day so not to loose the finger work. It seems to me that some sound quality gets lost on the way from Reaper to You Tube

After leveling the frets a bit its now possible to play clean without much buzz. This is me fiddling via the Digitech RP70 (Digitech Clean Amp/Chorus/some delay/Hall Reverb/lots of noise gate because of the single coil hum) into Behringer U-Phoria UM2 and then into Reaper. I used the Stereo enhance on Reaper as well as some EQ and Presence.

Nicely played, but you are playing a bass here and I'm missing lows! (also something I noticed when I listened to your previous sound-videos) I know your coming from a guitar player background, but I feel a bass should have more lows (certainly in the mix) than you are using at the moment.

Thanks for replying blablas much appreciated especially because Im new to bass playing such comments are worth a lot! I did take down much of the bass in the EQ on the FX pedal and I do play with the guitar tone almost all the way up. The last soundcloud tune called Remembrance has much less low end because I took it totally down in the 4-way EQ. For some reason for my ears there was too much of it especially because I played the guitar as a lead instrument. I will try to play with more low end next time and will also try to play with less tone on the guitar. There is also this option with Hi-mids and Low-mids which Im not familiar with What do you suggest to do with those? I did use lost of hi-mids and even low-mids in the last tune but almost no lows. That said I did use (medium) low end on the other fiddlings. Much appreciated!

As an experiment you can keep the mid controls neutral, I have the mids on most amps a little over or under neutral so it's a nice base point to start out with, after that just fiddle around with them to find out what you like and think sounds okay.
There is no golden rule as far as bass EQ-ing goes, just toy around until you find something you like, always start from neutral and add or reduce one of the controls to get a feel for what it does to the sound.
The lows on most of my amps are set somewhere between 2 o'clock and full, highs are set somewhere between 9 and 2 o'clock and my mids between 11 and 3 o'clock.
I hope this will give you some guidance and feel for a basic setting, please don't see my settings as 'set in concrete', I do fiddle around with them every once in while but they are almost always within the regions I mentioned above, these settings are also very amplifier/combo dependent.

OK. I have read somewhere on the net that it best not to use low/high mids if playing solo bass but when in band situation then boosting low-mids would be desirable. Do you find this to be true? Also, blablas what headphones did you use when listening to my music? Im sure you used some good quality but some headphones can lack lows. When I listen to "Remembrance" tune on my iPhone headphones it sound very thin, lacking low end but when I listen via my AKG K-55 then it sounds just nice and full. Do you think that this was the reason for me taking down the lows so much in the mix because my AKG headphones are having more low end when I listen to it in comparison to other headphones/monitors/speakers? Thanks for helping!

I'm not in a band situation. Been there, done that - didn't like it, not doing that any more. No advise for the mids there. No headphones, there is good set of speakers attached to my computer.

to get good results you could tray to make your mixes sound similar to professionally mix song in your headphones. I personally never mix using headphones as they are mostly made to boost low end

You may find that headphones give you a false sense of what it actually sounds like in the open air.
One of the best places to listen to tracks you have recorded (obviously for those of us that don't have a quality listening room) is in a car. It sounds silly, but the car is actually a great listening space.
Also, if you plan on other people listening to you music, make sure you always give it a test run on some "not so good" speakers, as that is what the majority have.
