Apart from the speaker, which seems to be a very special design...according to the marketing man...this is a very simple circuit. 1x 12AX7 preamp tube and 1x 6L6 power tube. The extra gain stages are created by a series of FET's cascading into one another. It strikes me that your V55 should be able to achieve similar things (bar the speaker) with overdrive pedals in front of it or in the effects loop. Or maybe the 55watts is just too much? There's no attenuator is there? Might be worth getting or making a cheap one.

Shure tubes matter but whats in the entire circuit is of more imprtance when it comes to the whole amp tone. And cabinet size + speaker too of course.
The natural overdive on my V55 is terrible. Could be the flobby sounding jensen style speaker though. Maybe a Celestion would do a better job with its more tight low end?

BTW, I can get the same clean and slightly break up tone but not that beefy OD-ed one! Maybe a different pedal style like the TC Tube Pilot could help in this regard?
