Where to next? Maybe the little Fame amp you nearly pulled the trigger on last week?

Not sure ... that amp is best suited for Blues players as it will break up nicely. I like my headroom ... ... I like quiet amps, not much hissing going on and Bugera can be dialed in to be very much silent (important for recording). I still think my best option is Bugera V22 combo as it has different speaker and valves and is Infinium so it certainly will sounds and react differently to my V55 (the oldest Blue light version). I think the V55 (6L6) might be modeled after Fender amps and the V22 (EL84) after VOX, if you look at the valves used for each. I have come to really trust in Bugera amps which is a serious statement for a nitpicker like meself

Next could be a Fender Mustang GT series amplifier. I remember all the fuss when this series was launched. It was being slaughtered everywhere. Henning went through every patch and they all sounded terrible (via youtube). Oh dear. I have a older Mustang practice amp. It is a fun box of tricks and as a practice amp, it works. Since the GT launch there have been several firmware updates all promising to correct this and make that better, etc. So, without looking specifically, I found a used GT40 for sale locally at a stupid low price and, I bought it. And never looked back. It is a marvellous piece of gear. Many times better than the previous series. I am not interested in recording and it is a long time since I played on a stage. All I need is an amp that sounds nice or okay enough at house volume and here it is. Tonnes of effects and amp sims at the twirl of a button. Some effects are quite good, reverb and delay, a little distortion perhaps. Many of the presets are clearly not targeted to me but no problem. It is easy to edit or create new presets. You can audition/download new presets direct from the amp so you don't have to use the phone software via Bluetooth. I like a good clean sound and the GT towers above the previous Mustang series here. Switch on and switch off. Simple. Can it sound like a Fender Twin Reverb? Yeah but not as good. Can a Fender Twin Reverb offer the same functionality as the GT series? Well. I have paid more money for a tuner and here we have one built in at the press of one button. Just keep it off the floor and you are good.

My two pennies (not that it's worth much). I think the room acoustics play a big part in shaping the sound. My liilte Bugera BC15 Sounds totally different in the room I play in at home (approx 12'x12' with 7'9" ceiling height). Compared to the large room at my friend's house (approx 25'x14" and 9' ceiling). Obviously you alter the settings and eq to suit. I know you are fussy with the exact tone you want @chedapapa so why change from the amp you like. I can understand if it's just about a louder amp for gigging.

I hope to learn a lesson this time and stay away from these wannabe tube.like gadgets with tons of mediocre FX and settings and options Thats me done! I need no myriads of options from an amp that "ALMOST" sounds as good as Fender Twin but rather a Fender Twin that sounds simply as a Feder Twin and excels at it. For the rest I've got me pedal board which AGAIN sounds much better than those myriads of FX and options of the Katana. Katana's Delay and Reverb sound pathetic in comparison to my Mooer Re-echo Twin and Fender Marine Layer reverb. The onboard Boss Blues Drive is just bunch of hiss. I get a MUCH better drive from my CKK Lunar Drive. Any way, each to its own. We all know what we know and no matter what others say we will always only know what we know. Do what makes you happy.

I'll have to have a listen for that Blues Driver hiss...but that'll mean hooking it up to the computer again and that always puts me in a bad mood. I was interested that one of those video reviews really rated the Univibe sound. I think I quite liked that too. It's just so hard to remember what on earth effects you are actually using.
I did wonder the other day whether I might hook the Katana up to the speaker and cabinet in my Champ to see what a bigger box does to the sound.

I actually thought the blues driver emulation was pretty good on the katana. I'd rarely venture into the other overdrives or distortions but the blues driver works for me in terms of adding a bit of grit to the clean. The firmware versions V1 to V2 to V3 did not change any of the existing effects at all. As for delays, I like the analog delay and also the SD3000 (I think that's what it is). Phasesr, Flangers, Chorus, Tremolo don't get a whole lot of use for me - they seem okay but I wouldn't be too discerning about those effects.

I think Blues Driver is stock on the Boost Knob on the Green Light! p.s. to @defjef Well, I wish you good luck with all stuff Katana related. I must admire your Endurance, I really do

The Katana is really flexible for me and great to take out into the garden but I can't bear all this hooking up to computers bollox. And not knowing what effects I am using means I end up with a notebook stashed in the back. Once I can get it to actually record like a good thing instead of like a tin of biscuits I'll be a lot happier.
