I put a pair of EMG 81/85 in my Harley Benton SC-500 WH and I totally hated them now I have SD pegasus/sentient and love them only now I have a battery box in it that is empty. I guess I just don't like active pickups. I have the SD Blackout modular preamp so I could try the mage them active and see if it was only the EMG's I did not like I don´t like the sound of the "standard" active SDs (EMTY & AHB1), however the Livewire set sounds very nice. BUT I still prefer EMGs when it comes to active pickups. But I haven´t tried to "activate" passive SD pickups yet, although this modular preamp from SD looks very interesting. Maybe you could try it out and do some soundsamples before and after the mod.

I will ask you first before I sell them if it´s ok, maybe then you have the HB SG.
Yeah I know, there are many discussions about which tonewood sounds better or best. Some people say there is nearly no difference and it´s depending more on hardware and pickups. To me personally the basswood guitars like my LTD or the Ibanez(es) I had in the past, worked always fine with DiMarzios. And I remembered I had the Ibanez SZ-520 with SD Invaders and it was a beautiful metal monster! So in the end I guess it´s what sound YOU prefer.
I want to do "Melodic Nu-Metal" (like I call it), and with the LTD VB-400 and the built in EMGs I had the best results while recording my demos. I would share it with you, but the quality is soo bad that I don´t want to bother anyone with it. When my CST-24 is modded I will record the tracks again in an acceptable quality!
Thank you for the kind attention mate. I was supposed to get the guitar by the end of this month but sadly some personal family issues came up and I had to put it on hold. You are quite correct, it's always about what you like and what are you using things for. There are no right nor wrong with gear. It's all a matter of personal taste. Personally [ie, for me] I find the passive pups more versatile for both a clean sound as well as for more dirty ones. It's really hard to have a straight "clean" signal with active pups. But then again, if you are using the guitar just for "that" kind of distorted sound than it will handle it quite well. Another thing I find with active guitar pups is that if you use some modulation it may not react well [in fact, some pedals don't really like them at all] which becomes a nuisance. On the other hand I'm all for active pups on Basses. They sound and react well.

For my guitar sound I don´t need a "real" clean sound, and I don´t really like to play clean anyway. There has to be at least a bit of chorus and reverb or delay on it, and the EMGs do a great job for this. I didn´t have the issue of modulations not liking my EMGs in the past, and hope it won´t occur.

New guy, first post, new owner of a CST-24HB. Ordered earlier this month when they were still out of stock. It finally shipped January 12th and I took delivery yesterday in SW Florida. Flawless build, superb bookmatched top, and the fretboard looks like (illegal-since-the 60's) Brazilian rosewood (!) I have two PRSs, including an SE-245 Soapbar with a wraparound bridge. These bridges ARE intonatable; two hexhead setscrews at the aft ends of the bridge, pressing against the studs, adjust the bridge distance from the nut. The procedure is to intonate the 1st and 6th strings, then the rest 'fall into place.' I've never before seen the CST-24's additional adjustment for the G and B saddle. I'm guessing that might be needed if using a wound G string. PRS warns that for some reason they don't play well with wraparounds... I'm loving the 24!

Welcome to the club Stevens. Glad to see you're happy with your cst24, my one has rosewood fretboard too, a lot of the new ones have the ebobol ones. Lovely guitars. How do you find the Harley Benton guitars rate against the Agile ones? I know they have a big following in the States and I nearly bought one a few years back.

Welcome to the HB Club stevene nice guitar you've got there I heard that Thomann changed back to rosewood fretboard after people complaining about the ebonol. Not sure though.

But what ARE those inlays? Is it 4 fingers pointing north, south, east and west indicating where we should all get our inspiration from? I like it. Hmm, looks like a ninja star. Looks also like a rune. Thomann calls it "Morning Star". Maybe they could call it "Mystical Rune Star" Inlays.

I like that they use their own inlay style and didnt go with ...just dots...or tried to copy the PRS birds. I really dig it.
Always thought the inlay got the sun in the middle and 4 sunrays around it.
