Since I am travelling a lot (usually by plane) I was thinking of taking a shortscale bass with me - and thought about the HB PB Shorty.
Yet when thinking of bi-weekly removing the neck from the body so that it fits my suitcase I wonder how long the screws will last (especially with a soft wood like poplar).
Any recommendations on that or alternatives to unscrewing the neck regularly?
Also wondering about the weight of the PB Shorty - any experiences?

I would be worried about doing this regularly. It is not designed for the purpose and I would expect the wood in the neck to be chewed up with time. I suppose it can be changed by replacing the screws with a combination of bolts and nuts, or whatever the receiving end of the bolt would be called, which would have to be tightly set in the neck, likely after drilling larger holes.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

I have a couple of sets of the inserts but I never got around to installing them.
They do save the wood, just make sure you get the steel ones and not the brass version as the brass ones are softer and don't last as long
