Wow! Well I ordered this gold top at 2.30ish Monday afternoon, it arrived at around 4pm today. Fastest delivery I've ever had from Thomann.
It looks stunning can't find any visual flaws, it weighs a tonne 😊. But the 3way switch is broken, feels like it's snapped at the bottom of the stem. I have emailed Thomann but I would think it was too late today to be acknowledged/replied to?
Im not sure what happens or how long it likely takes to get a reply?
I have spare switches but I don't want to void the warranty by just changing it without Thomann corresponding. I have looked all over and can't find any faults, the set up appears good, again I'm not going to get the ruler out and check stuff until I hear from Thomann. There is no point plugging it in with a busted switch.
Anybody had anything like this, a perfectly good set up and flawless finish but buggered switch?
Any ideas how long I should wait before emailing Thomann again? It feels a really nice guitar and I'm gutted I can't plug it in and give the P90's a blast. ðŸ˜

blindwilly3fingersCongrats!, and sorry to hear of the busted switch. Go ahead, plug it in! Worst that will happen is, nothing - I think. Post some picks, that will spur me to get moving on some actual guitar stuff, rather than all this other stuff I'm tripping over. SC P90, sweet!

Cheers intenselycalm, will post some pics tomorrow, my indoor lights are terrible energy saving bulbs (blame the Mrs) and won't do the guitar justice. I hope I don't have to send it back, I can't stop looking at it lol I thought my 550 Faded Tobacco flame looked the nuts but this is something else. The gold just pops, its stunning in the right light. I really want to pop the back cover off and fit a new switch. I am warey though just incase there is damage in the cavity I can't see. So I best wait until Thomann suggest what to do. P.s hope all went OK at your appointment today.

I'm sure you can take a peak in that cavity without voiding the warranty. I love those goldtops that look like copper in some lights and Tutankhamun's tomb in others. I remember @chedapapa having problems when he removed damaged or bent screws. I know it worked out for him in the end but I would rather get the OK before doing anything. I don't know what type of switch is in there, whether it's the box or lever type? My only concern is if it damaged the body behind the poker chip? I don't know how easy it is to break one, the stem just flops around like it's not attached. The colour does change depending on the light, I can't believe how good it looks. It definitely wouldn't look out of place in Tutankhamun's tomb, according to some the design is nearly as old as him. 😂

Thanks, everything went well at the appointment.
All my innards are where they should be. Some road wear, but not bad for my vintage, LOL.
They did mention I was talking about Fiji during recovery.
I was probably dreaming about being a pirate. Arrr
Back to your guitar..., take that beauty outside (weather permitting) and take some pics of her!

blindwilly3fingers, hey that the new top secret multi-directional push pull toggle switheroo. Kinda like a gamer's joy stick or something fancy. (just kidding)
Nice looking guitar, I expect they will get you fixed up. I had to send a bunch of photos for a couple of my HBs as well. They probably use them for their insurance purposes and to show the mfgr. Nice guit!

I think you could be right intenselycalm I might plug it in and see if it's a dualshock like on the PS4 😅. I will do some better pics minus the flecks of polystyrene around the switch, if I do keep it. I'm starting to think Thomann's customer service is a bit like their QC. I have not got an answer if I can remove the switch cover without making the warranty void? Tomorrow being Saturday I suspect nothing much will happen. I've heard good things about Sweet water and their customer service. Have you used them?

I don't know this to be a fact, but I assume Thomann probably does not open any of the HB boxes when they arrive in a shipping container. They probably look over the original samples, place the order, receive the products, put them on shelves then ship them out as they are purchased. I haven't had one yet that really had any QC attention, there are tags and such, but I figure those are added at the factory, and not at Thomann. Again, I don't know this to be fact, but it is what I suspect. I could be wrong, and that is often the case.
If you like the fit and finish, the way it feels and it sounds good to your ear, you've got a keeper. It is likely a box switch, not an open Switchcraft style selector. It's just a switch (hopefully). As long as there aren't any cracks in the finish around the switch, you should be safe.
Enjoy!

That's what I was thinking, it looks OK just need to remove the switch and poker chip to check there is no damage, the action is a little high but more or less what you would expect out of the box.
I have both the box & lever type 3way switches in my spares stash. I really feel like saying to hell with Thomann and just going ahead and fixing it.
I'm afraid as I get older I have less patience especially when dealing with jobsworth people just ticking boxes and passing the problem on.
Sorry to harp on I'm just frustrated at waiting for an answer to what to me is a simple question!

Well I plugged her in, it's in middle position both pups on so can't say how it sounds in treble or rhythm position. Sounds great in middle the P90's sound well like P90's should. I love it, plays nice and so far sounds good. Still no word from Thomann!

I'm struggling big time not to say bugger it and open the cover. The only thing that is stopping me is that Thomann seem to be avoiding the question of the warranty being void if I do? I have been reading trust pilot and the like and there are some horror stories on there regarding customer service from Thomann. Now I know every story has more than one side and I'm trying to stay unbiased and not get negative. But the little devil 👿 on my shoulder is whispering fix it, fix it 😇
