Well, I would think you could make a solution of Iron Acetate using iron filings and a strong vinegar, distilled white vinegar would probably be best as it should be purer, it might react like mad though using filings, I would use a large clean container (1 Litre perhaps) and say 1 spoon of filings and 200 mL of Vinegar, if the stain is too weak add more filings and give it a swirl about, to prepare a saturated solution just keep dissolving filings until no more can dissolve.

I just buy wood stain normally. This time i tried a minwax ebony stain pen. Just didnt soak in then tried sticky like it had some sort of curing agent built in i was unaware of.
Either way it didnt really work out. I might just buy an ebay neck replacement and sell this one on.

Mine arrived a while ago now i.postimg.cc/Y9xNNr4R/IMG-20200307-150620-087.jpgI plan on changing the bridge to a wilkinson tremolo, white pearloid pickguard H/S config, and locking vintage tuners. Might do a neck swap as i want a more fender like Radius and ebony/black fretboard. Anyone know the neck heel measurements offhand? Hi, your neck back finiture is gloss ?

No. Back of neck is a real smooth satin type finish. Not sticky at all

Hi Lewis, I have staining of my CST24 using iron acetate with much success although as you rightly pointed out, it will be much better if u lightly sand down the clear finishing on the fretboard for before absorption of the iron acetate. Below are 2 pictures of the 2 rounds of staining ive done. First pic with comparison where i did it the first time without sanding and the second one with sanding. Here's the video of the entire process of the first round of staining. link Hope this helps. Btw how is the silver finishing on yours? Would be great if you have any more pics to share. My matt black finish ST20 pickups are pretty awesome that I dont really wish to mess swopping them out. Wondering if you are having the same experience as me. drive.google.com/open?id=11NPU2qZQqs276BbEogXCw1EKJM3953mr[img src=" i28.photobucket.com/albums/c231/teof/1569136956135.jpg" src="https://s28.photobucket.com/user/teof/media/20200321_082237.jpg.html" style="max-width:100%;" alt=""]

Springs are meant to be parallel. Having them otherwise inscreases tension a little. Mine are on the left on this picture and the bridge is set to pull the G string a minor third: If they are still too strong, remove one. Or use longer screws but leaving one out is the preferred solution as it does not irreversibly drill deeper holes into the body.
