Hey everyone! I wonder if anyone else has gotten to try out either the DC or SC Junior. I was incredibly skeptical of the one pickup guitar thing, but this one really surprised me. It can sound like so many different guitars. Super comfortable to play as well. Overall, it strikes me as a punk rock snarler.
I've been really impressed with it, and I wondered if anyone else has tried one.

I recently got a DC Junior and it is nice, it needed set up but plays well. It's not a Gibson but for the money it's good. Does anyone know if it has a 2 way adjustable truss rod.

I just received my SC-Jr a few days ago. Overall its probably not quite as well put together as my SC-custom, but it came out of the box in playable condition. I made a few adjustments to it yesterday so it would be a little happier in drop C tuning.
I'm happy with it. I don't think it will make the grade to be my #1, but i have some recordings coming up. It will probably get some studio time.
Added Note: i did shim the pickup. It was a little thin sounding in the stock setting, being almost 7mm from the strings. At just over 4mm, it heated up a bit without becoming boomy or muddy.

You could call it my number 0.75 I also have a Gibson SG special and an epiphone Iommi SG the occasionally get the starting spot.

Time for you to list your #1 to #74 Hopefully my ninja edit clarifies things a bit. However, my studio build should start next year. Maybe then i can get up to 75 without my wife complaining about the overflow of guitars from my current space😄

Interesting. Probably exactly what this guitar needed to come "alive" in the sound department. Forgive me my noobness, but how exactly did you shim that pickup? I'm interested in doing the same thing when I get my DC-junior.

Exactly mate! Early british punk bands like the Buzzcocks were all about this kind of sound. If a Les Paul is the decent polite girl you introduce to your parents, the DC/SC junior is the cheeky chick with the nosering

Interesting. Probably exactly what this guitar needed to come "alive" in the sound department. Forgive me my noobness, but how exactly did you shim that pickup? I'm interested in doing the same thing when I get my DC-junior. Currently, I'm using a temporary measure to test the utility of the shim. I actually used a piece of compressed cardboard from the box of a cheap pedal that was about 2.5mm thick, cut into small triangles and shoved under the plastic dogears. Keep in mind that this leaves a small gap. Also keep in mind that the plastic dogears are only part of the mounting process, there are little metal tabs beneath the plastic that sit down into a recess cut into the body. My solution is less than ideal, but it was intended as a proof of concept to see what sort of changes come with the change in pickup height. Using a very unscientific ear test, I think the sound has improved. within the next week or two I will probably do some more controlled testing with and without shims - since the current ones just slide in and out after releasing the tension from the mounting screw, but I need to wait for the rest of my gear to arrive (recovering from lightning strike induced chaos). Should I decide to make the change more permanent, I will either make or buy a shim that surrounds the entire pickup and is made of something more solid than cardboard. Most of the aftermarket p90 makers offer some variant of P90 shims. I may buy a few different ones to see what's what. Also keep in mind that unlike many other P90s, the covers on these ones don't just pop off. These pickups appear to be wax potted and the covers seem to be stuck (double-sided taped?) to the pickup body. I didn't force the issue since I don't have any spare P90s around in case I screw up

i bought these, there a bit pricy. but al kinds of thicknesses come in the pack, so you can vary in many ways. and indeed one has cut out the inner part of the spacer to put under the metal ears of the pickup. shimming the pickup makes a big difference in sound/output.

I think you're both right. Personally, I like my humbuckers pretty low for added clarity and "air", but a P90 hugely benefits from a higher position. More snarl, more power. Edit: thanx for the extensive info calebz !

I've had some time to play it, and it's phenomenal! I could see Stiff Little Fingers being about this sound!
