My output jack keeps going dead and I'd like to replace it. The original seems a bit flimsy. Has anyone done this? Which one should I get? Were there any problems?
I've soldered many times and have replaced jacks before. I've never done it on a HB.

I've not changed a jack on a 450 or any HB to be honest. I've changed them on other brands if your soldering is good there shouldn't be any problems.
Tbh I've used cheap and more expensive Jacks without any trouble. You may already know, sometimes a squirt of electrical contact cleaner on a jack plug and inserted several times can work. You can also take the jack out and clean the contact tail with contact cleaner.
Sometimes it's just dirty contacts, dust and crud find their way into the most unlikely places. Obviously it could be a worn jack or just faulty. Might be worth a try with contact cleaner before changing the jack but if not good luck getting it sorted out.

I'll get out my trusty can of DeOxit and give it a try when I get a chance. It may also be shorting out. There was some bare wire. Electrical tape may work if that's the case.

I had a problem with the jack on one of my first guitars, it was in fact the jack had bent too far in the wrong direction so I took it out and re bent it. Not saying this is your problem but it's worth checking.

I did that. It was actually shorting out. I wrapped the the bare wire with high quality electrical tape. It's fixed.

Try to find Epiphone OEM Output Jack with OEM plastic plate. These are the best. Stops jack from spinning around.

Yeah, unscrew it and see how the jack plug is connecting with it. Have you shielded the cavity by any chance causing a short in there? The funny thing is I always shield every guitar I own with copper shielding tape (Amazon). This guitar didn't need it. I enjoy moding, but doing a mod without a need is pointless.
