Hello Everyone,
I bought a left handed PBass from Thomann some time ago, beautiful bass and great quality overall ; but it's black with a white pickguard, and I really want to change the guard to black. I ordered a PBass compatible black pickguard left handed from Thomann, and lo and behold... It doesn't fit (at all). The shape is actually different, the holes don't align at all, the pickups don't even fit... Disaster.
So please help : can I get a compatible black pickguard for this bass? And if yes, where?
Thanks to everyone in advance.
/Dave

You say you bought the bass some time ago. Things change even in a short time. The factories buy in bulk and when another supplier is cheaper they swap to them,if the part is slightly different they just alter the fitting process. This is not a Thomann thing,it's a widespread practise. Mostly found with Squiers due the 12 different factories involved in their production. Getting your replacement to fit is easy. Tools involved are minimal. Sandpaper, wood glue, tooth picks or skewers, flat file . Task involves filling holes, sanding the area for the neck. Sometimes you need to enlarge the pickup holes. I won't go into detail, there's 1000's of YT videos explain it better. Don't feel up to all that work ? Buy a sheet of self adhesive plastic. Brand name in the UK is Fablon but it's widely available, in plenty colours too. Take your old scratchplate, cover it with the plastic film, trim the edges.
