Just ordered the new Agufish Limited Edition Signature single cut model. Quite pricy at 499€ (for an HB), but the specs look so good. After a bit of pondering, I decided to just order it and try it out. If it’s not to my liking I can always send it back.. Anyone else looking at this and any thoughts on the value proposition of it? harleybenton.com/product/agufish-ltd-signature/

I appreciate the unbelievable specs on this guitar und would like to try it. But on the other hand i got two gibsons and a Maybach les paul so i won‘t spend 500€ just for curiosity like i did with my 185€- b stock sc custom which turned out to be amazing.
What i want to say: i guess it is too expensive to be that HB guitar you trigger buy just to check out a new bodyshape or other pickups or just for the fun of it.

Pickups are custom wound as per Agufish wishes: “Roswell Seraphim Set Custom Wound Alnico V Humbucker (bridge) and Alnico V/Ceramic Flanker Humbucker (neck)”. Sounded ok to me in the demo clips Agufish posted, but then again I’m not that hard to please when it comes to pickups at this point of my guitar adventuring. I’ve been really pleasantly surprised by the HB 7-string I bought a few months back. I did fix the grounding and modded it for 2 vol, no tone and coil split. But it feels like a solid instrument and I constantly keep swapping between it and my Ibanez RG(can’t remember the alphanumerics) 7-string. The HB has it’s own chraracter. I even like the pickups in it, very attacky and less boomy compared to the Ibanez. Also for drop tuning the fanfret does work a lot better, I’ve in fact stopped drop tuning the Ibanez as the low string goes all rubber band like Indeed, at 499 euro, I’m still a bit torn if that is a good price for this level of guitar... set neck with roasted maple + stainless steel frets + grover tuners sounds like a really nice combo. Buying some lower spec HB and modifying might be cheaper and better value, but I like the idea of a ready to go combo. Probably there is some price extra because it’s “signature” and “limited”, but there was the EytschPi 42 version some time back. They now sell the non-limited edition www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_hp_42_signature_tt.htm, but it is missing a few things from the limited edition. At this point I’m thinking that I let the order go through and see how it is. Definitely the bar is higher when you raise the price this much. So unlike my 2018 Fanfret-7 that had some small issues (couple of minor paint problems and bad bridge grounding) this needs to be tip top out of the box. And it has to feel different enough to my existing guitar. And from that I’d expect to feel at least a bit inspired by it. If it has quality issues, or it feels too similar to my othet guitars or just feels “meh” it goes back. As it’s the easter holidays I have some time to think about this still if this is the right move or should I just get some cheaper HB single cute and mod it... any thoughts what might be an option or is there?

I had the HB Agufish on my watchlist now quite some time. I did like what I saw and heard so I had the launch date in my calendar.
I expected it to be in a price range 300+350€ max., taking my SC-550 as a reference. The highest priced HB I bought was a BM-75 for 299€ until now.
And the I was a little bit blown away by the price of 499€ they announced.
But having sold a Duesenberg Starplayer Special some weeks ago for a price of 999€, I decided to give the HB Agufish a try and then I ordered. Got a confirmation from Thomann just a few minutes ago that my package with the HB Agufish is on it's way. Looking forward to it and keep You posted.

I like the look but have no interest in any of the rest. I was way more attracted to the SC-7 and got one of the last. Glad I did. The "limited" denomination implies that price will not go down as it always does with regular models, unless they end up with a surplus. Better not wait if one is interested.

Imho, I wouldn't pay that money for a signature guitar of somebody I barely know from youtube... The guitar specs are freaking cool, but a lower price (300-400) and another finish would be more satisfying to me.

You must pay extra for the particularity of it because of the extra work involved and lower quantities produced. And since this is a special thing, that extra can ask for the "uniqueness" premium, which explains why this ends up at the top of the Harley Benton price range. It's a gamble because they know they are targetting a narrow public with this one. If all you want is a good guitar, the special image is out of scope. It started the other way around. The Gibson Les Paul was relying on the player's name to generate acceptance for the new solid body guitar product and the Chet Atkins models helped keep Gretsch at the top of the market in the 1950s. Now I get to know a player's name when he gets an Ibanez signature model.

Link to the Amarok models.

My order was shipped yesterday too! So I guess I now can wait and see how it feels. But I still love to hear what others who buy it are thinking or thoughts on value of this thing. I’ve been pondering why I want this particular guitar? I admit that I find the “uniqueness” aspect quite alluring and to get a limited edition guitar at 499€ is pretty nice. Then again 350 guitars is still quite a few guitars plus if they sell there will be a non-limited edition for sure as well. So it’s not super exclusive and for most HB as a brand will make it “whatevs man” I do like Agufish videos and he has probably very good idea on what makes for a good guitar (for his style) and it sounds like they really iterated for some time on this. So I’d hope the value is there from all the work he has put in to it (minus his cut of the price, obviously). I am not a great player and not a perfoming musician. I come to this more from (hobby) music production angle, so for me it’s about having a nice variety to grab from. To have something that looks nice on the wall when I’m not using it is a bonus. And I like different, I don’t get the “I want the same strat mr. Gilmour used on Dark Side of the Moon” thing at all and I really don’t get the reliced thing at all. I’d rather love a super modern weird headless guitar, but those are way out of my budget. But, the guitar is on it’s way, hopefully it’s a good one!
