Hi all, I posted this in another section but realized it probably wasn’t the correct place for it. Hope everyone is doing well. I’ve been gone a while raising kids, chickens, and growing a garden. All things good. Lol However, wife has consented to allow a purchase of a new ST-62 for our upcoming anniversary. FINALLY, HB is making shell pink ST-62! I like the lake placid blue with the mint pick guard as well so I told her to surprise me. I will love either. Here’s my thoughts and a question or 2 to follow:
I would like to see a mint pickguard on the shell pink rather than the blue. Other than ordering both guitars (cost prohibitive for me), I looked on the Thomann site to see if I could order one. Not there. I contacted customer support and was told they have no plans to release the mint pickguard on its own. Makes no sense to me.... soooo....where could I find a mint pickguard to fit? Also, I would go for aged knobs and pickup covers (would probably just order some true vintage ‘59 fender pups and be five with it) even if I couldn’t get the mint guard. I like the maple neck a lot, although I see most shell pink strats with rosewood, I prefer the maple....BUT, does anyone know if I should expect a heavy lacquer on the fretboard? I know that’s truer to vintage specs but I like matte finishes. I would deal with it either way. That baby is gorgeous. Anyway, just some stuff for discussion...thanks.
PS I wonder if there is any talks to make sonic blue or surf green.....🔥🔥🔥
