Hi everyone, So I'm getting the HB Single Cut kit and have decided on the top finish which will be an "antique oak" stain with blacked out plastic parts. The challenge now is deciding on the back (and neck?) finish... I've thought about using the same stain, a darker tone of the same stain, or a solid color. Probably not black, though. Any ideas on what you would do with the back? The top will look pretty much like this:
Thanks!
PS. Here's a HB T-style kit I did a few years ago. The finish is basic acrylic paints and Tru Oil. It came out pretty nice IMO although applying the Tru Oil in strikes rather than rubbing in circles left some lines which are overly visible in this pic. The binding is fake...

Firstly, I think that choice of finish for the top is fantastic. For the back - you could be boring and just do standard gloss black, however, I think a rich red mahogany colour would be a great contrast: or maybe something a bit darker:

Thanks for the ideas! I'm kind of trying to find a color that is somewhat similar to the top so it doesn't look like two different pieces, I think that last brown would work pretty well. I thought about a red mahogany too, but the difference between the two colors may be a bit too much...
