It seems like the guitars are in 1 of 3 stages, In Stock, Will be in stock, or Request. Does Request mean that they are on the final leg of producing that style of guitar before something replaces it?
I ask because the SC-550 Tobacco Flame is in the request stage but its such a beautiful guitar.
If that is the case I wonder what could be replacing it. Just speculation.

I was wondering the same thing. I wanted to order a DC Custom cherry, but it hasn't been available for some time now...

On Request means that there is no estimate for future availability. It does not mean the model is about to be discontinued, that wouldn't make sense. It is on offer, meaning Thomann intend to produce another batch of it. Models routinely go through these stages and back into stock. Many models were discontinued without ever being "on request". Some were resurrected after a hiatus, during which they disappeared from the site, like the RB-414. The RB-414 came back as a solid body after having been semi-hollow.
Most of the first Fusion models went extinct gradually. The article would simply disappear the moment it went out of stock. The SC-7 and TE-7 also went quietly. Price went from 299€ to 199€, then there were a few B-stock and deko items left, then they were gone forever.

Things were no different before. What you see there is not incompetence but priority choices. Harley Benton is designed to be as cheap as possible, which implies optimising production capacity and limiting stock building. They are not losing so much on sales because they're still the best at the price so people wait or buy something else from them.
Besides, the brand was never meant to be a big money maker. It's purpose was to get people to the store so they would keep buying higher margin stuff from them.

Thomann must be losing out on a ton of sales. Not very good business practice. Thomann's business does not depend on Harley Benton guitars. Have you looked at the store ? Nobody needs premises that big to sell 200€ guitars from a warehouse.
