Would you buy one expensive to me guitar a PRS SE Custom 24, They cost right at 800 (I have $800)
or
3 or more Harley Bentons of each flavor (pickups and config)
LP 550 254
24TP90 203
24T 203
Room for one more shipping 50 to usa
I'm racking my brain about this and would like to hear feedback. A thought is the PRS would prolly emulate the 550 LP sound to an extent but not the P90, I love the sound of P90's online.
I have 3 strats and one tele and missing the Gibby side of things and I sold my Bandmaster to fund this adventure.
Note: I know 800 is peanuts for a guitar but I'm kinda poor, The prices for a real lespaul are insane.
Your feedback?

1 bugatti or 10 super cars. So many similar scenarios.
always a personal preference thing, But just to add a perspective, Id rather have the 3.
Especially if an accident like a dent on the one expensive guitar which is imo is inevitable will be painful to experience.
But then there is the deal of maintaining multiple instruments. However, Less wear and tear spread across 3 instruments.
Definitely a pros and cons list that you would have to write out and identify whats best for each scenario.

Yeah the preference thing is real... Its good to hear what others think, I'm leaning towards the multiple guitar scenario. I like what Donut said about the tunings, Im in open G alot on the Tele and it makes it a pain to tune it back and forth.
Only other consideration is the value of the guitars later on... That's not really important to me but I think about it.

Only other consideration is the value of the guitars later on... That's not really important to me but I think about it. The expected re-sale value of a guitar is mostly a fantasy. Guitars, like almost anything else, drastically lose value the moment they leave their "new" state with manufacturer's warranty. A guitar with a reknown brand name remains an expense, not an ínvestment. Only a very small fringe gets into the collectible range. Your standard PRS SE does not. Its re-sale value will be around 60% of its new price or less. Check sold items on ebay in your area for more precise information. So if your planned loss is 40% of $800, that's $320 you can spend on Harley Benton without being at a disadvantage even if they turn into firewood. Now, if you purchased a used PRS SE for $480 (or less) we'd have a different discussion, because you'd have all chances of selling it again for a similar price unless you go silly with modifications no one will ever want to buy..

My vote goes for the 3-4 guitars too. If you get a CST24T that's as good as mine, you won't be disappointed. My LP450 is pretty sweet too, so I'm sure you'll be happy with a 550.
Throw in a Tele or a Strat for the fourth guitar and you're set.

Back up my Hard Drive? How do I put it in reverse?

At least a PRS is a safer than some choice. I have to admit I have some $800.00 price level guitars that are imports from a "authentic" brand that are no better than a $200.00 HB. I have 3 HB's waiting to ship right now. So you know where my money went. Be aware shipping right now is a problem. Thomann must be working a mini crew and perhaps shortened schedule. When they do ship DHL has its own problems. I bought two that went out of stock and one that will and were lucky to get them locked in. But humans do want their new toys especially during a lock down. US dealers have shipping problems now as well.

Shipping is an issue now due to shortenings in air travel. Thomann's crew likely never changed, as preparing shipments from warehouses is not an activity requiring close contact to people but normal shops have re-opened now in Germany.

Well, I'm now officially part of the club .. self appointed that is.
I ordered the following
Harley Benton JB-75MN NA Vintage Series Harley Benton CST-24T P90 Ocean Flame Harley Benton SC-550 Desert Flame Burst Harley Benton Parts Locking Tuners 3R/3L Chrome
Just tip that I found... when you see a guitar on the site it will say 2-3 weeks as an example Well when you put it in the cart it actually shows the date they are expecting the shipment for that guitar. You don't have to buy it. Delete it out of cart if the answer is not to your liking.
Harley Benton CST-24T P90 Ocean Flame & Harley Benton SC-550 Desert Flame Burst are both scheduled to be received in stock on 5/21/2020
thanks for you feedback, I read this thread everyday )

I have yet to really see a Desert Burst, and it says it has a "fluted" flamed top which idk what that means but it definitely looks like a gorgeous guitar. I genuinely wanna collect them all haha!

I just tried it and it seems to not show anything different to the 1-2 weeks on the main details page or when it's in basket and going to checkout. Am I looking in the wrong place? Maybe it's different on different countries' sites. Which site are you using?

Shipping dates are very arbitrary, dates can be planned to to 3 weeks, and when it is only 1 week left it can all of a sudden become 3-4 weeks again. It happened to me.

Do you have a bass amp too? There are quite a few guitars slated to be back in stock late May. Either they've got one hell of a shipment coming in or is an arbitrary date. Hopefully the first! And of course, welcome to the club!
