Hi, I'm interested in the Harley Benton DC junior but looking at the pictures on Thomann it appears that it has a painted fretboard. This seems odd to me on any guitar. Is this correct/normal? I've never come across it on any of the Fenders or Squiers that I have played. Thanks

I'm not sure if it is painted though as the grain is still quite visible. Perhaps it has been stained a darker shade? Thanks for the reply, it definitely looks odd and painted to me which is really strange and unappealing. Would be interested to know what it looks like when that comes off? Anyone got one like to comment?

Don't have any info on the DC junior other that the website, and the odd review I've seen. Some manufactures do what they call ebonised fretboards, which is basically staining it black.
I would be surprised if it was painted! I've not seen any suggestions it is? But you never know.

its not painted its stained, on mine they also did only stain the top and not the sides.
as the staining is very dark(ebony like) compared to the lighter natural wood color of the sides, it makes it look like painted.
its a mystery to me why they did not stain the side also, but thats harley benton for you.
i have also noticed that the pictures on the thomann site show a way more transparent coat of paint on the body. which makes the grain more visible. on mine, from the first batch that was sold the grain is barely visible.

It's not as noticeable in the ad pictures. But the fretboard on my SC-Jr is definitely stained black. It is most noticeable at the higher end of the board. It's one of those things that doesn't bother me - I stained the fretboard of my SC-Custom because I wasn't fond of the orange hue of the Jatoba board. I figure if I have to restain each of them every few years, it's not a big deal.
