I heard a few guitar sound sample on the thomann.de website and I falled in love with the Ibanez GRG 170DX black guitar. I love the sound and looks very cool. The Roland Micro Cube GX guitar amp was also in love at first sight. I’m over the budget but I found my way Thank you so much for your opinions and suggestions.

That's an interesting shift I went through the same sort of selection process when I started looking at guitars again some 2 and a half years ago. First I was looking at the Chapman ML1, then I saw the Ibanez GRG'S on ebay, then I stumbled on this cheap Harley Benton brand and started watching videos. After a few days I no longer knew what I wanted so I ended up buying it all But if I were to start over and make a single choice, it would definitely be some Ibanez and probably an HSH configuration. Ibanez guitars are plentiful on the used market, by the way. You get them easily at half their new price. That funny solo at the end will require a little work:

I have seen this demo, but thank you. I have found an Ibanez GRG170 + Ibanez guitar amp for 150EUR. I think it's a good deal. What does it mean"HSH configuration"?

I bought an Ibanez GRG7221 last year; being a metalhead I'd always wanted an Ibanez. The paint job wasn't that great, the body was flat and boring, the Infinity pickups were weak (that comes across clearly in the above video) and the treated New Zealand pine fret board started to mark almost immediately. The best things about it were the neck profile and the strings! Even though I'd bought in a sale for £124, it still went back. And what do you use now?

The John Birch is currently stripped down for cleaning and rewiring as the pots etc were 30+ years old!

It's not to heavy and thick? :-) My wife would like to learn also that is way I ask it.

The SC-Custom will weigh about 4 Kg, which is more than the average 3.5 Kg of a Strat' or Ibanez RG. With 45 mm it has the same thickness as a Stratocaster or the Ibanez you are looking at (I think). Being a beginner changes nothing, it's more a matter of body size or playing position. The SC-Custom, as all copies of Gibson models, has a shorter scale, which might make it better adapted to smaller hands, shorter arms or the playing of stretchy chords (the Gibson Byrdland was made an even shorter scale on request from professional musicians in the 1950s). These attributes can be found together with a lighter weight in the DC models (copies of the Gibson SG), which will be around 3 Kg.

It will get you started and if you like its sound enough, it can be augmented with a cheap multi-effect unit later on.

The best things about it were the neck profile and the strings! Even though I'd bought in a sale for £124, it still went back. I never had anything from the GIO line but they do look plain the same way modern style (not replicas) Harley Benton roughly below 200€ do, without anything fancy to them. I don't see "weak" pick-ups as an issue, assuming this refers to output level. Unless they are of the "vintage" persuasion, today's amps have gain controls that can remedy this. This is really what "gain" does. I can see how swapping between guitars of different output levels can be annoying in live situations since it requires some additional action to adjust, be it turning a knob, switching a booster or selecting a prepared profile but this would be no concern to a beginner with one instrument. The body of the RG is flat as a Telecaster. That's what it is. A pointy, edgy plank, really. I decided I prefer the more rounded, countoured kind so I don't have one of these but I can see the appeal. I was just watching Steve Vai the other day telling how that shape was meant to be hard looking. He knows, he designed the thing. I must say I much prefer his new one in terms of body shape. So the GIO version of it gets as plain as it can and it has a certain simple elegance. Of course, the black one will be a fingerprint collection. I wanted an Ibanez the moment I realised they were the rational, modernised thing, with improved ergonomy, rounded neck heels, thin necks and broader sound characteristics. No stupid trees to catch strings, no intentionally limited bandwidth in pick-ups (aka "vintage" sound), no "traditional" balast to keep those happy who want to be members of some owners' club more than they want a music instrument. When I got my SA, it made my recently purchased ST-62 look so redundant and outdated I returned the latter. I bought a few more Ibanez since then, because they are ubiquitous and therefore cheap on the 2nd hand market. All had perfect fretwork, by the way.
