I've had a CryBaby and a Morley. I preferred the Morley, but I think it's broken.

I've had a CryBaby and a Morley. I preferred the Morley, but I think it's broken. Sadly, I could never get into Morley. I really liked the concept with the optical sensor (no mechanical wear) and the looks, but the Morley sound was too "modern" for my taste.

Dug my Morley out, it's become scratchy, I thought the whole point of an optical wah was that it didn't become scratchy! I will look into this further and see if I can fix it up.

I've never used a wah wah pedal, so I'd probably go with some kind of auto-wah, or a Mutron.

PLUS, finding a cocked position for it or swelling in a wahed note are both things to treasure.

Are there smaller pedals that are good as well? All the listed pedals are relatively large and heavy.

Mooer make one called The Wahter ( !) with fold out sections. Dunlop do a mini Cry Baby too. So do Morley. Trouble is the physics of rocking a smaller wah means it is more tricky to use.

I think the Morley is beyond my capabilities. Going to try to sell it as a broken unit for a tenner.

If anyone's looking at mini wah pedals then there's also the Sonicake; these aren't the best prices, just decent pictures.
which seems to be a rehousing of the Donner Vowel:

I didn't bother selling it in the end, it's currently a door stop xD You're welcome to it if you want.

Still using my (very) vintage Colorsound Wah-Fuzz-Swell from the early 70s but it’s about to be joined by a Morley Wah Lock.
(Because Kamani Tōno from BandMaid told me to) 🤣

I've been using one of those for the past year or two. The sound is in the same family as the classic crybaby. The lack of on/off stomp switch is awesome. The sensor works great. Added note - it is solid as a rock and weighs 2-3 times what one would expect for a pedal that size. I also use their expression pedal (same format) to control one of my other effects, and my bass player uses the phaser (again, same format/sensor setup as the wah).
