I tried that Blackstar 1watt amp and was I disappointed with its tone! The guy that sold me the G&L had it. The amp sounded as if it was never unpacked from its cardboard box. What a disaster of a tone/sound! Since that day I will never ever complain about my Bugera V5 Infinium again which sounds 100x better ... ney, it's in a different league all together.
But then again we all might have different ears to start with ...

Just to add ; This makes me think about folks complaining about pickups sounding too muddy lol yet all that muddyness could be due to the amp!

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

And that's the way closed back amps seem to sound to me. I so want to slice a letterbox in the back of my Blackstar ID Core. On stage or in the studio is a different matter - spillage of sound may often be an issue - but for my own ears an open back cab is far preferable. I'd certainly rather play near an open backed amp because a closed back tends to virtually demand you stand right in front of it to enjoy its tones to the max. Guess it's like the acoustic cutaway question that dodger and marit were discussing. Who's ears are we trying to please? If it's our own then one of those guitars with a top bout soundhole may actually be the answer.

defjef note this mate! My Harley Benton CG15 amp is a closed back amp but sounds very good with lots of nice defined lows and highs. There are rubbish amps and good sounding amps. Not sure how the bigger Blackstar amps sound though.
Looking at the price of Blackstar 1watt and Bugera V5 you would be better off with Bugera big time! Heck! You would even be better with the HB CG15 lol

I have two SS combos and a headphone amp. One of the the combos is a Roland MicroCube and the other is a Tony Smith 10watt I bought in Kashiwa, Japan. I barely have any idea who Tony Smith is and I have no idea whatsoever about who made the amp. It has a nice clean though. Pic related, not mine but the same kind. The headphone amp is a Vox amPlug 2 Classic Rock. Love it.

Hi friends , which and how many guitar amps you own ? Thanks ! I have a Bugera V22 combo Main amp as it has such great tones from stock, but Ruby Tubes make it sing... Fender Cyber Deluxe..Just the jammin amp with plenty of out of the box sounds Rath amp 20-20.... Best clean amp I have ever had with a strat.... Fender 600 Boss Katana 7watt ( its so sweet ) its just a battery amp but packs a hell of a punch with great tones and a reverb that they never meant to fit !! Kustom 20 watt amp (somehere ) Blamckstart mini...good but not as good as the Boss Katana mini..

I think I'm up to .....14?
The coolest of which is the insanely rare Peavey Vulcan. Supposedly less than 300 were ever built. Late 60s, 225 watts, onboard fuzz, phaser and reverb.
Everyday amps that I play in bands are a Peavey triple xxx and a Marshall Dsl15h.

Bugera V5 and fender blues jr (Tweed) How do you like your blues jr? I sometimes wonder if I made a big mistake trading mine in.

I had a V5, sold it because I found it quite muddy. Do you have any problems with that? I currently have a Marshall MG15CFX combo amp, which is really nice. On the side I have a tiny VOX mini, first generation. Holds up really well. I'm a big fan of ultra clean sound, the Marshall is excellent for that.

I have the exact same problem, the bugera sounds like it had a wet towel over it. Of course with tone at 10. i dont know how so many People review the damn thing positively???

You MUST have an EQ pedal for the V5 to deliver. I find it sounds very good with my NUX Drive Core always On in front of it. The NUX has a Bass boost and a Tone knob which is basically like an EQ. Also keep the amps Tone on 5! Do not be tempted to max it out! It will get that boomy-muddy tone. Max the Volume but keep the Gain low at 2-3. This is a clean amp and needs a nice OD to drive it. Of course the 8" speaker is too small to get a great tone!
I dont like the V5's tone on its own. I must have an OD in front of it always on just to give it that velvety sheen. Also to mention it takes my Digitech RP225 very well and the Bassman sim with 4x10" Jensen sim sounds sooooo good!
