What I find weird is that the guitar is again on backorder until March 15th. Did they find a few old guitars lying around ? they probably take them out of there bundle deals. i have to say that all of the faults/defects listed here i have seen them on the big names guitars costing 20,30,40 times and more than a benton. even horrible things coming out of the fabled custom shops. does it make it OK, of course not. would end you be even more upset if you where to buy a €8000,00 gibson custom shop where the neck has been set askew in the body for example. which made i look so bad that even the worst cheap chinees copy looks premium. because i have seen those enough, and with those a mean i have seen more than 2 or 3 over the years. and other big names custom shop don't have a better track record in this. 90% of the price of the "premium brands" is what you pay for the name on the headstock.

It's strange that most (let's stay positive) people get guitars that are set-up great and then some that are very poor. Is it to do with price range? ^Che, you forgot about the shoulder moaning (I kid, I kid) Its not strange, blame your horoscope Oh yeah my darn shoulder, thanks for reminding me, now that you mentioned it it started to hurt again (Im a damn hypochondriac)

Sometimes I would find a few products on my shelves even if the computer sais we have zero in the stock. Mistakes happen especially in such dynamic places where things are coming in and out in hordes.

Hope quality isn't going to be an issue. I've got a vintage burst HB-35 tomorrow (hopefully as I'm working from home!) or Friday.
I got an HBO850 last week and it seemed perfectly fine so may it's bad luck on the HB35

I have shoulder issues too, do you have therapy for it? I do and it's helping quite well so far although the issue keeps returning after I've not been for a week or so. I had to look up that word. Ha well I hope it's nothing serious with the shoulder, for me it isn't. (the therapy guy calls it "very minor", I don't agree with him ) About the expensive guitars having issues too, yes I've heard those stories too. On the Gibson page with some BB reissue from 1579 or so there's nothing but negative reviews. Can you believe that?

Actually my therapist plays guitar too! It's my left shoulder which sucks cos when standing it's the one my guitar leans on. Oh well, keep on rockin' in the free world!

I wonder if the latest shipment was rushed out for delivery and maybe a few missed proper quality control, I've seen several in b stock and Deko.

How is the pickguard on your guitar? Is it as bad as described in some youtube videos?

Mine was pretty bad. I took it of and smoothed out the rough bits with a small file. It doesn't look too bad now.

I send them a mail last week to ask them about the pickguard and they told me yesterday that the problem is fixed and they don't have any complain about that. Maybe you should just expose them all the small problem you had, they could probably give you some kind of compensation ( even if it's a small one ).
I'm sorry to say that, but i really got the feeling that you got a guitar that was lying around or that was sent back by another customer...

I sent them an email outlining the problems I had and they're going to get back to me. I hope they don't just say send it back, a kind of automatic response, that'll be the fourth guitar I'll have sent back. I've done a lot of work on it now and it's playing not too bad. I don't like the tuners, pickups or the hard tail bridge arrangement as mine was seized and looks really cheap and nasty. In looking at replacements on eBay, Thomman and aliexpress. In glad others are having better luck with the Sunburst's.

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

... the frets had been filed flat and left unpolished with flat spots all over them and very rough so as to grind on the strings. The flat frets seems to be the most inexcusable of these faults. Their presence means that the guitar has missed a whole process in manufacture. An uncrowned fret is an unfinished fret on any guitar not just a setup issue. That being said I had the same experience on a £299 Yamaha Pacifica and they are a company renowned for doing an excellent job - you do wonder how the quality control sticker gets justified though.
