I've just got round to uploading photos on photobucket, sorry its taken so long.... First those grindy frets (also check out the binding round the bottom of the neck) Some views of the binding The dented pickup cover So how does this compare to other HB-35 owners out there? Am I being too picky for £135?

That's a nice looking tobacco burst. I was torn with which color to go for but I always fancied a red 335 so... I also have a tobacco burst epiphone Sheraton so I suppose that helped my decision too. I was tempted to change the pick ups for alnico 2's. How do the wvc set sound, they're a bit hotter alnico 5's right?

Both guitars here look really nice, the hair dye is in my memory banks if I ever buy a sunburst. Top idea. I could live with the neck issues but the binding & dent in the pup would tip me over the edge. If was a telecaster or Strat type guitar I could live with it, probably, but these guitars are meant to be perfect. My mate, the Fender man, has ordered the HB bigtone, and he's said its going back for the slightest imperfection. I really can understand it with these types.

Am I being too picky for £135? yes you are too picky,BUT i understand you here is what i see: for that money you paid i would hardly get the woods to build this guitar...no electronics, pickups, hardware etc included.i would need 2 weeks to build it and MAYBE it would have some little flaws like the scraping of the binding like yours. it can happen. at harley benton guitars you dont pay for the value, otherwise you would have to pay double the price. you pay for a product, build and bought in huge quantities in low paid countries to be able to sell it at that low prices. plus, thomann can only keep these prices that low because they order and sell them DIRECTLY.if there would be resellers like the musicstore on your next corner you would need to pay more. so,do you think you are too picky about your guitar? i think you got good value, very good just like everyone of us

I agree, if you aren't happy and you have the option to return it, then make the most of it.

I've been tinkering with it for some time now and got it playing quite nice. I think I'll just live with the faults that remain, they are quite minor, I suppose. I don't think I could go through sending it back and getting another unknown a week or two later... if they are in stock. I might just ask for a discount as it probably qualifies as b stock.

Just what I was about to say : PLAY IT Playing a new guitar is just the check that decides for anything else, in fine. Because, stating you are a musician, playing an instrument is the only thing that can confirm it is worth what it looks and was paid So plug her, shred her, make her cry, make her sing ... and be her slave EDIT : what hapened to Che ??

Due to musical differences I've decided I can't work with myself any more.

Oh I have been playing it I've decided to keep it, I've got it playing ok for now and plan to do some upgrades to it a bit later on, new tuners being the first upgrade. It's a shame they're drilled to accept the modern tuners with the 45degree lug which will leave holes in the back of the headstock if you wanted old gotoh with tulip heads, like on the les pauls.
