Che, in my humble opinion it's all solid gold marketing bull**** anyway. There's absolutely no point in getting hung up on alnico/ceramic, basswood/alder, or whatever.
All components - wood, pickups, electronics, tuners, fretwire - vary wildly in quality. Quality basswood is better than cheap alder. Quality ceramic pickups can sound better than cheap alnicos. Product descriptions give you no hint as to sound quality, so they are largely meaningless.

My only experience with ceramic pups was harsh treble sound and alnico very round and woolly, love the sound. But I dont really dig the Alnico V sound because it has too much bite for my kind of playing. I have bought cheap chinese ceramic pups and they sound harsh then I bought cheap chinese alnico and they sound AWESOME, I mean even the bridge pup sounds awesome. The ceramic single coil pups on the ST-20 sound terible to me but the alnico pups on the ST-62 sound like heaven to me. All this is love for alnico pups is coming from my own experience. I dont care about the woods but I do care what the nut is, or bridge, or tuners, pups, and even if it comes with D'addarios on or not

I know I said I will wait until the 15th March for other models to return but to hell with it I know I will just end up changing my mind again, so best is to rip it like an old plaster and make it happen

Usually they write Alnico if so otherwise they are most certainly ceramic, but hey they just might be more on the warm side (I hope)

I see P90's are screwed in differently than say Humbuckers, they have 2 screws in the middle do I take those two screws out and thats it, the pickup pops out ? Anything I should know before attempting this great adventure

those p90s could be in fact...humbuckers (or at least they were on my LP with p90s) they got 2 stacked coils for hum cancelling. they sound different than real humbuckers...but different than real p90s with 1 coil, too

the problem is the description.." vintage style p90" doesnt say much...ok there stands "single coil" too. but thomanns descriptions are very faulty in this pic you can see a wilkinson p90...its a stacked humbucker. wilkinson also does a 1 coil p90...so it could be one of those too. just wanted to inform people. the old harley benton LP goldtop had those stacked ones and although they sound good..its not a p90 sound

Thanks NAppel for taking the photo, good man! Ok so that type is much thicker than the standard one coild P90 right? That one should have "sk" at the bottom of the pickup for "stacked"
I only hope they are not too hot
